Has pleurisy returned

In July I was diagnosed with supraglottis and a lung infection, my lung partially collasped. Prior to this I had pleurisy. I now have a common cold and a dry cough which is uncomfortable under my left shoulder blade. Its the same lung all the time I suffer with. Could I have pleurisy again 😫

It is possible to get pleurisy more than once, I used to get it recurring in the same place. Best see your GP, s/he can hear pleurisy through stethoscope. Good luck. P

Sadly it’s entirely possible to have pleurisy more than once. I have had both pleurisy and pneumonia several times. In fact I believe that once you have had either of those illnesses once there is always a possibility of reoccurrence because it can leave a generous weakness in that area. Likewise because you have only just recovered from it, and then caught a cold it would make sense for germs to attack weakest part of body.

Having said which it may be that you have simply pulled a muscle in that area due to coughing. You need to contact gp tomorrow and insist on face to face appointment so they can have a listen to your chest. However if your breathing is impaired you maybe should contact 111 rather than wait until tomorrow.
