Constant cough after COVID
I have had a cough for 2 years had x rays etc and they could not find anything specific they have put on antibiotics 3 days a week indefinitely. Except for my copd. I feel healthy speak to your consultant. Xxxx
Hi Spacecat1, your post was intrigueing you say about your cough then go on to say apart from your COPD you feel healthy. One of the ongoing symptoms of COPD can be a constant cough, also asthma causes coughing in some people , its usually a sign your asthma is not controlled . Have you not been for cough control exercises. ? I have an inhaler to control my constant cough however some drugs trigger it off again and I think the warm weather is making some peoples symptoms worse or maybe even the high pollen rates.
Hello Kay. I guess it would depend if Covid caused scaring or increased scaring in your lungs. Did they do an x-ray or a CT scan to find the reason for your continued coughing? xx 👋🙂
Me too. I had covid about a week ago. My symptoms were sore muscles, tiredness and a cough for about ten days. Since being negative less tiredness and muscle ache but a constant cough? I have emphysema and recently diagnosed fibrosis but they never gave me a cough only this covid?
Hi Kayjh33, if you have had Covid then I think you need to speak to the consultant as suggested, it may have worsened your asthma , could be long Covid, might be the very hot weather too. good luck.
HI. I had Covid and had a cough early on, but that went long before I tested negative again. I have COPD.
With the caveat that I’m not medically qualified. You don’t say how long ago you tested positive, but it’s worth bearing in mind that even non-covid viral coughs in healthy people can persist for 12 weeks or more past the virus itself. For covid specifically, there is data to suggest that a small percentage of people continue to cough for more than a year after catching the virus, regardless of how mild their illness was. For those with underlying respiratory conditions, I’m guessing that the likelihood of a cough lingering would be higher. There is also a percentage of people that have had scarring and lung damage occur as a result, so if it’s been more than 3 months or your symptoms generally have changed or are worse, I would be seeing a doctor and pushing for a ct scan.
