Bronchial spasms

Hello, everyone. I hope you are all doing well.

I have interstitial lung disease caused by chemotherapy. My bronchial spasms have been more frequent the last week or two, especially after I have eaten or drank caffeine. Tonight, I was also having heart palpitations. It was really triggering my health anxiety. Anyone have anything they do that helps with them? Thank you.

Hello LL, 😃

Welcome!! 🍀

You have been through the wringer. 😑 What treatment have you been given for your bronchospasms ? Do you use a bronchodilator? As for palpitations I have had these ever since I had a lung transplant almost three years ago now. I know what you mean about anxiety. Having a thumping heart makes it worse. Cut down or stop drinking caffeine. I try and avoid too much animal protein especially beef. That is not so good for the heart and in the long run the kidneys. If my palpitations are very bad I drink cold water or have a cold as I can manage shower. This helps me because it stimulates the vagus nerve. But I would ask your doctor about that because I wouldn't want it to have an ill effect on you. I also walk when I have a thumpy heart. Or talk. Or sing. That seems to help. Sending warm wishes.

P.S. When you lie down don't lie on your side when you have palpitations it makes it worse. Lie on your back.

Hi you certainly have had a lot to put up with, I usually sit my my little dog Jack and just stroke him it seems to do the trick. I also sit with my eyes closed sometimes and think of places like the beach or summer meadows it really does help. Please let us know how you are doing have a lovely day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx 🌻🌻
