So I’m not sure where to post this and I need some advice.
Some I’ve had the flu since Monday but it has turned into suspected bronchitis. I was just wondering how long I’d be infectious with the influenza virus now? I know that the regular flu virus is 5-7 days but I’m not sure if this is now extended due to having bronchitis as well.

Hi anon,In my experience the flu will run it’s normal course so will the bronchitis!
Have you been given antibiotics for the bronchitis? If so, in the past I have found the bronchitis tends to improve on the third day of treatment, gone in a week or so; so all being well you could be rid of both around the same time.
The bronchitis is an opportunistic bacterial infection which took off on the back of the flu virus. Much as we bronchs can get a bacterial exacerbation after we have had a virus which we have caught from somebody else. You shouldn't be infectious with the bronchitis.
Bronchitis often follows a cold or flu and can be caused by a virus or bacteria.everyones different re timing.d look after yrself,I'd drink extra fluids, and rest up.inhaling steam helps.the viral coughs can linger x
