On Tuesday I had a reply to the letter I wrote on your urging LP, on March 1, expressing my concern about vulnerable people being denied the 4th jab. It came, not from James Cleverley MP himself, but from one of his Parliamentary assistants. Mr. C is much too busy as a Minister of State to write himself. The letter detailed cheerfully all that the Government has done to protect the most vulnerable- lots of vaccines, new medications (dexamethasone or tocilizumab anyone?) and antivirals. Lots of older people, care home residents and the immunosuppressed will get the booster -hooray. And free test kits for the most vulnerable.
Hooray, hooray- everything is for the best in the best of all possible worlds.
Mr. Cleverley has not of course answered my concerns , though he has passed them on to his ministerial colleagues at the Department of Health and Social Care.

Yes dodging the issue. Not reading your concerns properly and ignorant of what actually constitutes ' vulnerable'. We definitely have to find a way round it ourselves as I did. Badgering consultants to override the restrictions.

It's a typical response from someone who knows nothing about vulnerability and what conditions make you vulnerable. What's worse is that they can't be bothered to research your concerns to educate themselves. They trot out what they have done (totally irrelevant to what you are concerned about) and then think they have done their job. So frustrating.
Mr Cleverley certainly doesn’t live up to his name, in fact it’s an Oxymoron and where exactly are all these free Test Kits for the vulnerable? And as for looking after people in Care Homes, that myth has been well and truly debunked this week, they never put a protective ring around them, they simply locked them in and left them to die!
Just re the free test kits- I went to order and pay for a pack of tests as my family caught covid few weeks ago and I had previously been sent a priority pcr and "the letter" to state within 24 hrs off a positive test would be offered a treatment. Anyway I thought how do you even get a lft now well on the .gov site if you've been sent a priority test previously and ? immunocompromised I think it said you still get them free.
But you can only register a .gov result in order to receive treatment so if you bought a test from chemist its void and would delay treatment. 🥴😳
Literally. I was a bit like "ah I don't have to pay they kept that quiet... " but the more I read I was like basically you don't want us to know anything before it could save our lives... cheers again BJ! 😷😬 but then again it's not like covid ever existed really is it?! (I'm clearly joking and talking like a politician before anyone gets upset with me) 😆🤦🏽♀️
I was sent a free pack of lateral flows, when free availability was stopped. A few dates later i went onto the website and ordered another pack of LFTs which arrived a couple of days later. They do tell you you can’t register paid for tests
By the way, I had a similar reply to you from my MP Nadhim Zahawi obviously sent from his parliamentary office. I slammed a reply back to his constituency mail box telling him that as his constituent his reply was very disappointing and indicated that he had not personally read my email as my concerns had not been addressed but brushed aside. He replied in person and said that he took my concerns on board and had sent my email on to Sajid Javid - from whom I have heard nothing of course. We have to keep pinning them down.
I too contacted my MP back in February. I received a reply saying he had forwarded my email to the 'appropriate health minister'. Chased MP up in March. This week I got a reply from MP with attached 2 page email from Maggie Throup MP Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Vaccines and Public Health which was 2 pages long but surprise surprise did not answer the question as to why previous CEV with severe respiratory problems not eligible for Spring Booster. I had my booster last week as a sensible vaccinator agreed I should have it.....and yes the 'prescriber' can do that! If you can't get through the red tape and you can get to a walk in centre I think it's worth a try.
Well done for trying but very disappointed about the outcome. Totally missing the point or avoidance if that’s a more suitable word. Every time I speak to our GP practice manager about issues I have with the surgery we just go round in circles with her quoting guidelines at me. There’s a word in there called Guide! Use your common sense. I usually walk away but when I couldn’t access antibiotics for a chest infection for 5 days during lockdown she did eventually agreed I should be seen in the car park in future. Great lifting my top in the middle of winter to bare all but better than nothing I guess. But they couldn’t see me without a negative PCR due to bloody guidelines. 🙁
Common sense and a genuine desire to help patients. That is what's missing. Little Brirain's 'computer says no' was spot on. One of my tactics is to keep badgering with politely put counter arguments until they give up to get me off their back! 😅
when you listen to radio interviews and mps in government are asked a direct question how often d es the interviewer say " yes but you haven't answered my question " they are trained to give you everything but an actual answer.
always a list of what positive things they have done or going to do but never an answer
