Stand up take a bow you wonderful lot. Especially Littlepom with your fountain of knowledge and determination. Amazing what right place and care can accomplish. Have survived 2wks in hospital on some pretty nasty iv antibiotics and completing of DNR without running for the hills. After the fiasco of last minute transport cancellation my hopes were not high. I hold my hands up care above and beyond from that so important 3am coffee to the let me get you a paper on my break. All your support has helped me find strength to carry on. Even to telling well meaning physio that l am not going to practice walking carrying my oxygen down a busy corridor full of machines and nurses and visitors when l have been totally isolated for 2 years talk about being set up to fail !Some time ago l would have just struggled on then collapsed in a breathless heap no use to anyone. So a big step forward for me and hopefully home this week knowing now that l have support from our wonderful NHS when needed x

It's marvellous to hear that you are doing so well and hopefully will be home soon. To your own bed and back in charge of your daily life. Yes our NHS is amazing but on another level we have to develop a strong will of self determination to survive within it and make it clear what we will accept as being good for us and what we will not.So well done you for coming so far. It is so difficult to do this when you are poorly and exhausted. Much easier to give in. This time the combination of NHS expertise and your incredible spirit is paying off.

Do keep us up to date with how you are doing and thank you for your kind words.

Pleased you are being well looked after. And quite right too.A note of caution. I understand your concerns re walking and physio advice but last spring my dad was extremely unwell and in hospital for 7 weeks. He spent much of the time in bed and once up was only allowed (due to Covid) to move around his small ward. As a result he lost muscle mass and can now months later barely walk. He recent was told this will not return however hard he tries.

Therefore you may need to consider walking as much as you can at quiet times to keep muscles moving.

Thankyou. I do walk around my room and do pulmonary exercises at least 3 times daily l also only get into bed at night. You are right though it is so important to maintain muscle strength x
