I remember West London trolley buses as a small child. More recently I lived in Wimbledon for twenty years and the latter few trams southward were introduced

I used to catch it from Wimbledon to Morden Park stop for the fabulous walks & café, also to the Ikea stop

A wonderful photo. I do love to see them. My mum was a Londoner and would have remembered the trams. Pete remembers trolley buses in Hounslow. Xxx🤗

No peege Pete went to Kenyngton Manor infants and junior school in Sunbury-on-Thames. We both went to Kenyngton Manor senior school and that’s where we first met. Pete used to go to Hounslow shopping with his parents. Xxx😘💜

I remember trams well, fascinated by the driving mechanism and clanking noises as a child. Had to go into the road to get on one, dangerous!

I remember riding the double-decker trams in Liverpool and assumed that it must have been many many years ago. But a quick Google reveals that the last tram ran in 1957 so it wasn't all that long ago after all!

We got married in 1956 Don, fair time ago! They were so noisy and rocked about. Trolley buses were quieter.

in reply to Lyd12

They certainly were which is why I thought WW2 would finished the trams off especially since Liverpool got such a hammering in the aid-raids. But no, they survived two world wars.

I went to school in Birmingham on the tram every day. Used to love the open bit at the front.

Ah nostalgia. Trams didn't come out to Southgate (my home), but the trolley buses came quite close.
