Hi everyone went for physo app today went very well she was really nice explained that nothing will make my lungs better but making my body stronger will help when illness kicks in and enable it to cope better .So suggested I try walking faster to get breathless then rest recover and carry on as this will help build up my muscles but not to do to much .seeing her again in few weeks to see how I get on She says it a double whammy the SJS and OB that makes me have the fatigue but hey ho can't change what's happened so just have to keep going .lol

Sounds like a good plan! Slowly slowly a bit at a time building up your strength. I am doing it with you. I bought a walking machine and litlle bit faster or further every day is my plan to build up my stamina. And on days when it all feels to much I have a day off 😉

Hope the exercise regime works well for you but do take things slowly. Wishing you well Pokermon. Xxx

Sounds like good advice but I'd build it up slowly to begin with. Maybe she will give you other strengthening exercises in time if you are to see her again. Good luck xx

Very pleased that you have found your physio so realistic and helpful. How much is too much? A physio said to me “Don’t exceed Borg scale 5.” Caspiana on this forum said if you can say “This exercise is doing me good,” on one breath then you can push a bit more, but if you can only get one word out at a time then slow down.”I find it tricky to get it right. I think we all do.

I was told if you can't talk you have done to much just by walking up slight slope to get indoors usually leaves me speechless .Mum says it's the only time I'm silent lol.

Hi Pokermon. Was the physio recommended to you by your GP, or did you look for one on your own?

I think excercise does help us to keep healthy but start slowly as others have said. If you try to much at once you will feel awful and it will put you off. At pulmonary rehab I was told to get out of breath but still be able to say "my name is . . . " Yoga is very good for breathing and stretching and strengthening muscles.

Try some breathing exercises and diaphragm singing too. There are videos on You Tube to help you.
