I was tested for this by ct scan many years ago but as my bronchiectasis was in both lungs l was unable to have the surgery. This could be better but will depend on distribution in lungs l suppose.

Thanks for your info so if it is in both lungs you can't really have it done

I couldn’t but it was at least 15 years ago. Saw the scans and it was in too many places l believe.

Much longer, probably had it from my twenties. Now colonised with pseudomonas so a serious infection will need hospitalisation for IV antibiotics. I am 78 now and try very hard to clear morning and evening. Am on azithromycin which helps to cut down on infections. Hopefully soon a drug will be found to help specifically for bronchiectasis. Best wishes to you and hope you continue to keep safe during this horrible time.

This sounds like Lung Volume Reduction Surgery (LVRS), which is also carried out at other hospitals. If you enter LVRS into the search button at the top of this page you can find more information x

TLD or lung ablation therapy has been about for quite a few years, when i had my endobronchial valves inserted almost 3 yrs ago now it was considered with my consultant as an alternative therapy but i failed by a narrow margin to meet the criteria which was quite a narrow one for patients. My consultant aslo advised that they had far more compications from doing this procedure than with valves or standard LVRS,they may by now have found a way around those complications but i think you will find that it didn't turn out to be the major leap forward or success that the Brompton and other leading lung centres had originally hoped for?
