I have just returned from DRIVING to Sicily - through France ,main part of Italy and then on to Sicily via two ferries etc , The paperwork I and my partner had to fill out , and pay for = (NO ONE EVER ASKED TO SEE.) .., The Testing etc , cost more than the ENTIRE fuel cost over those thousands of miles we drove . Before leaving Sicily, we had to join the thousands in a huge Football Stadium , to LEAVE the country FOR YET ANOTHER , - YES , - YOU'VE GUESSED IT ... = "TESTING " ..=. 40 Euros - RESULTS IN TWENTY MINUETS . I heard later , this vast Stadium took more money in this so called " Testing " Business, than it usually takes when full, by the public attending a Football match .!!..... nice little ( HUGE ) , earner for someone ! ..

Beware folks ,... = the Criminal fraternity are moving into this " Business " ... in a certain car park of a very big Shopping Centre , I SAW A " STALL " BEING SET UP BY SO CALLED " MEDICAL STAFF " = ALL LOOKING " THE PART " and charging = £ 85.-- per " Test " with so called " Results " in 24 hours to be given over your phone ! ... soon as a Police car cruised by ............THEY SCARPERED ! AND DAMNED FAST !! . Some old folk are being conned out of hundreds of pounds , by Con Merchants calling AT THEIR HOMES CLAIMING TO BE FROM THE " NHS" AND DOING FAKE "Testing " -

Its the old story folks , whenever a crisis occurs , someone is hiding in the shadows to make money out of it .. Now the question is _ HOW LONG IS THIS " TESTING RACKET " GOING TO LAST? , - YEARS ? ... are we going to wear masks forever ? . A woman admitted to me yesterday , = " The cost of all this , when flying to Portugal WITH HER FAMILY OF FOUR CHILDREN AND HUSBAND , cost more than the price of the Hotel ! ..... and the plane was.... HALF EMPTY ! ... ACCORDING TO PRESS INTERVIEWS = " People are fed up coughing up ALL THIS MONEY AND VAST PAPERWORK ETC GOING ABROAD " , and for what ? .... It'll be SOUTHEND for me next year ! ... AND BY TRAIN !!... Be on your guard folks , and two last questions ...= WHERE IS ALL THIS MONEY GOING , BEING RAISED ON THE BACK OF "COVID " , ? I ASKED MANY TIMES , BUT NO ONE KNEW , OR ADMITTED TO " KNOWING " ... AND FOR HOW LONG ? ....YEARS ? ..=...." Carry on Covid " .-..might make an amusing film one day ....

Oh dear Vittorio. 😒 This does sound like a debacle. Scammers will do all they can to make a quick buck and people have to be aware and vigilant. I wouldn't travel at the moment as I figured countries aren't going anywhere. But for those who need to, there is no way to avoid the requirements of each border control agency, it's either comply or don't go. I must say it seems rather laxed though. 😮Unfortunately that is the cost of travel in this day and age and it will continue to be so for a long time to come.

Covid will never leave now and mask wearing is a new way of life for many. But for people with suppressed immune systems and many ill individuals it is nothing new at all. I'm sorry you had such an expensive and stressful holiday. The Southend I am sure is a charming destination too, and as you say accessible by train. I hope you have a good weekend, do relax and recover from your shock.

Lots of thanklies for your comments on my item on the great COVID " Testing Money making Racket " ... I see in the Press , and comments on tv and radio, a number of people are cancelling holidays abroad , and deciding not to go abroad, in the near future with all this paperwork and extra expences ...- Particularly when we can PROVE we have had our two injections with corresponding paperwork and are free fom COVID ..ETC ... 😀
