Culture secretary says move could lead to an end to irritating cookie popups and consent requests online.

The government hopes to prioritise “innovative and responsible uses of data”, a spokesperson said, so that it can “boost growth, especially for startups and small firms," speed up scientific discoveries??? and improve public services???”.

This is really concerning news, okay it might get rid of those consent pop-ups, but what this really means is that cookies and stealth tracking will be used without any consent at all. We will no doubt be getting advertising pop-ups again instead, remember those? They could even appear on your desktop without your browser running at the time!

So maybe it is time to examine your privacy options, there are means to stop this from happening at browser level. 11 of the most secure browsers for private browsing in 2021.

Pop-up adverts are annoying, but I whole heartedly object to being tracked (snooped) upon by anyone and that includes Government Agencies, for any reason or purpose. I already guard against this behaviour and make my browsing private, I can also access websites that block out of territory boundaries too.

Did you know that the UK's closet and democratic neighbour, France, has a lot of Websites that block access to the UK and that was before Brexit as well.
