Breathing Problem with once a day inhalers

I have been 2 x once a day inhalers for quite a while now, but find that no matter how I take them (together or one morning and one lunchtime) I am breathless again after about two and a half hours. I think I preferred having inhalers to take every four hours they seem to wok better.

Has anyone else noticed that the once a day puffer doesn't work for them

The best advice that I can give is that you should contact your GP and tell him that the inhalers are not doing much good for you and maybe ask to try something different. There are many different inhalers available, not all inhalers work for some people and some inhalers can be okay to start with and then taper off until they stop working.

Ventolin stopped for me no matter how many puffs I took, so it was changed to Bricanyl which does work.

I agree with 2greys. You need to contact your GP and report the problems you are having.

Looking at your previous post Libragirl,

Spiolto should be taken the same time every day and because it includes a broncodilater best to take this before the Qvar which is a preventer medicine and helps protect against lung inflammation and lung infection.

..

With both these medicines to get the best from them do take them the same time every day.

You could take the Spiolto first then take the Qvar 15-30 mins afterward. (if not already you may benefit from using a spacer such as aerochamber to help get Qvar deeper into the lungs)

do always read the information leaflets that come with the meds

..

Ideally speak with your respiratory nurse to check when how you should be taking them but the information leaflet that comes with the inhalers should also explain this.

You could also run it by your respiratory nurse* if you can have the ventolin / salbutamol inhaler as well using it as a rescue inhaler to take at those times when you need a bit more help ie before you go out for a walk etc.

*You could check if you need to take 2 puffs of Qvar am and then another 2puffs pm also

(am before breakfast and pm before bed)

..

The BLF helpline may be abl to help you further also.

blf.org.uk/support-for-you/...

..

It is best to stick to same time daily for the inhalers.

If you trial the inhaler routine as described above, in the information and as directed by your respiratory nurse and you are finding this are still not working for sure go back to your doctor or respiratory nurse to communicate this.

..

Be sure to rinse mouth, brush teeth and then eat or drink something after taking the inhalers. I do mine before breakfast, I find this works well.

Best wishes BK

..

PS the inhalers help us breathe easier, but generally we will always have shortness of breath on exertion but if you are not ok generally when at rest you definitely will need to communicate this with your doctor.
