Hi can anyone tell me what it involves to have home oxygen, my hubby has a. Nippy ventalator for carbon dioxide retaining but he is now constantly on it because he said it helps him breath and when off it his sats drop, we are thinking maybe he needs home oxygen but i have heard its more complicated having oxygen when you retain carbon dioxide , what does it involve do you have to go in hospital to be assesed as with covid he hasnt been to any clinics for check up he is under wythenshaw hospital, thank you .

Hi, m also under the care of Wythenshawe hospital.I’m m to n to oxygen.,which I was assessed y the county oxygen service.If you have access to an advise line at wythenshawe,you could ask them for

I think you should be talking with respiratory doctor or nurse about this situation, or contact BLF helpline for further advice and recommendations

Speak to your respiratory nurse who will be able to organise oxygen for you. Local company will come put respiratory oxygen concentrator which we have in the hall with piece of matting underneath to stop vibration there will be long tubing one end for your nose and you can move around freely. I use a niv mask too. Which I use at night time and a a boost during day.

Thanks we used to have a respiratory nurse come to gp surgery once a month but they stopped it,not because of covid they said just see surgery nurse but she is not trained in respiratory conditions i think i will ring the hospital chest clinic for advice.

I have oxygen 24/7 I was prescribed my by the lung consultant at the hospital. I find it hard having to sleep with it The realatey is of course it's keeping me alive.
