I would be interested to talk to anyone with type 2 respitory failure

It would be good to talk to someone who understands the issues it causes

Hi I have had Respiratory 2 failure a few times. You feel exhausted. Need oxygen. Nebulizers . Takes a few weeks to get back to normal. Antibiotics are the norm. Now on Azithromycin Monday Wednesday and Fridays. This keeps infections at bay. Doesn't always make you feel great but helps.

Thank you for replying JuneI have permanent Respitory Failure type 2 due to being born with Scoliosis. It has got worse over the last few years. I need to sort myself out, do my pulmonary rehab exercises more often and do more walking with my walker ( even if i cannot manage to go far) I hope you make good progress with your health x

I had type 2 respiratory failure at the beginning of 2020, ended up in hospital. I am now on oxygen 15 hours a day. It took time to recover, didn’t help with lockdown starting as I felt better to go out! I also take a daily antibiotic as a maintenance medication. From my perspective it does change your lifestyle but go with how your body feels each day. Don’t try to do everything in one day you are going to have good days and bad both mentally and physically but we are still able to have a good life , just a different one than prior to being ill. Take care

Hi just wanted to know your daily antibiotic you take? As if it helps you. Might help others.

Hi. I had type 2 resp failure some years ago. One minute i was walking to work then waking up from an induced coma having being mechanically ventilated for almost a week. I can't lie, it was awful. I had tubes and wires in and out EVERYWHERE. I was told my lungs would only last another five years but ta da! Here I am! Breathless, I cough all the time, have very little energy but enjoy all the things I can do. I've had to give up a lot but try not to think about that and enjoy the things I can do. I have been to the gym this morning, a follow on from pulmonary rehab ,which I resisted for ages ! I also enjoy yoga and gentle pilates but struggle with walking and stairs. I know its hard but try to stay positive. There are some amazing people on here, brave, funny, full of knowledge and helpful.

I have severe COPD Emphysema and heart failure and 5 years ago I contracted haemophilus influenza which led to viral pneumonia and respiratory failure and 19 days ICU ventilator. Since then bacterial pneumonia and heart attacks, strokes and gall bladder attacks and prostrate cancer misdiagnosed, Its all fun when we get older!! I have outlived the prognosis but currently remain very tired and suffering very swollen feet, Lots of test but no conclusive results as to why other than a recent virus infection. It has been a roller coaster since ICU but like the bouncing ball the rebounds get lower each time it bounces back. It is progressive and I am getting older which is my GP's answer so I take it a day at a time. Anything specific you want to ask? Recently used Doxyciclyne lots and usually on Azithromycin 3 times a week.
