Hi to all. I had a recent chest Xray. I got a letter from hospital about a CAT scan for chest/abdo contrast. My Dr. rang and explained that the X-ray showed some density at the top part of my right lung. Going on Wednesday to have the CAT scan.
Could anyone please shed some light on this. I am not worrying because I haven't lost any sleep over it. It is what it is. Just concerned a wee bit. Thank you in advance for any replies.

So sorry, not a doctor(no one here is) so unable to shed any light on situation, anything said would only be a guess at numerous possibilities. The CAT scan should be able to reveal much more accurate info though

Believe me - I am grateful every morning when I wake up. I take nothing for granted.I appreciate everybody and everything and most of all that I am alive.
I had a chest ct scan back in 2017 when I was diagnosed with blood clots in my lungs and they give you an injection of contrast into your arm and you lie on a bed and the ct machine is open and shaped like a polo mint!

Thank you so much for your reply. I have had a CT scan many years ago with the contrast and it is painless it was for my left arm. My concern is the diagnosis - I can cope with the best/worst prognosis but it's the not knowing and also I haven't told my son or my cousin/best friend. They would automatically think the worst - and end up a puddle on the floor. As soon as I know what is going on then I will tell them. It is what it is and yes I am okay being scared - it's normal.Thank you again.
That's the thing with health its the uncertainty and you always expect the worst.
I know. I will be glad when it's all over and have results - then I can work with it.

I have bronchiectasis have had xrays had shading in bottom left they said it was where the lung has had damage and won't recover, before you start panicking doing exercises can help to live a normal life ... I'm 62 and still full time working.

The waiting is the worst so try each day to distract yourself with something you enjoy whilst waiting. I had 2 CTs of my lungs urgently within 6 months and one special one with radioactive dye due to something they had seen-then more recently was told it had resolved itself! I had been worried of course but had decided to keep busy and not think about it too much until the day. Its not easy but at this stage its a waiting game anyway and fear of the unknown. CTs can show up all sorts of things and sometimes not serious but have to be reported on. Let someone else you trust know so they can wait with you and check in on you each day. Be kind to yourself and do pampering things. Good luck x

My mother died at 77 from Lung Cancer, my father died at age 55from Lung Cancer and my Maternal Grandfather died from Lung Cancer. So I am
predisposed but I know that doesn't necessary mean I have it.
When I was a baby I had double pneumonia so there is some scarring already. Also at the age of 8 or 9 I had to go to a day hospital for breathing exercises - I was given pieces of cotton wool and had to blow them from my hand into a waste basket that was at a distance, there was more , like jumping on the spot 20 times etc., 20th January 2020 had an X-ray and it was all clear.
This time it is different because it is a CAT scan of my chest/abdo contrast. So I will be getting that dye tomorrow.
Keep myself busy - that's a problem - I just don't have the energy - I have ME/CFS and PMR (Polymyalgia Rheumatica ) I am not a worrier as I cannot waste energy that I don't have. Am I concerned - yes. I am human. My Goodness this is turning into an autobiography - maybe even a trilogy. Oh Thank God I can laugh at myself.

I have been there, after the CT scan I had a bronchoscopy these both showed that the abnormality in the lung was not cancer. I then had to wait 8 weeks for the results of TB tests, these where negative. I then had a needle biopsy which identified the abnormality was aspergillosis a rare fungal condition. All the waiting for tests and results is horrible but as my consultant told me don’t assume the worst.
Thank you Biker I am glad you are alright now. I agree it's the waiting but I cannot worry about something that I don't know. I put any scary thoughts in a box - put the lid on it and leave it outside. All you lovely people are so kind. Thank You. Pat

I had a CT Scan on 2 wk referral after an Xray showed a shadow on my lung, lower left lobes. It has been diagnosed as mild Bronchiectasis and mild emphesema.

YOUR CONDITION MAY BE DIFFERENT TO MINE. I too have density in my left lung. It's a job to shift even with three long sessions of lung drainage a day. I have long term bronchiectasis , sarcoidosis and now lung fibrositis. As I say, yours may be entirely different.
