Does anyone have any advice on what is safe to use when you have copd or similar. I have been using white vinegar diluted with water and sometimes fresh lemon juice, but i want to be sure that these are getting rid of any germs/virus in my house. I can’t use certain bleach or harsh chemical cleaners.

Any advice would be appreciated , thank you.

🙂

Hi Collie I use exactly what you do and yes it's a great disinfectant and as you know can be used for lots of cleaning things. My grandparents and parents swore by white vinegar and so do I. Have a lovely day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

Ah, thank you. It’s reassuring to know someone else does the same. I think i will stick with it, i believe it kills germs.

Thanks. Stay safe.🙂

Hiya ☺️ I agree with Damon, white vinegar Is great, if you have some stubborn things to clean use backing powder and then spray vinegar over it, wait a bit and wipe it clean. I use this when I clean my oven and it works wonders ☺️ or even in my shower.

Thank you for reply. Yes i will continue to use white vinegar and lemon juice. I sometimes use baking soda too. It cleans cups of tea stains, and cleans sinks if made in a paste. 🙂stay safe.

I use the eco range. I do find vinegar can set me off coughing if I am not careful, but I have used white vinegar and baking powder also.

Thank you, yes, i think the vinegar and water solution maybe is best, I really don’t want to use any chemicals, i try to keep my house chemical free. I think white vinegar is a good disinfectant.

Don’t know why i asked really😁but i just wondered if there was anything else people used that would be safe for us and effective.

Out of interest, I should have added that my husband started using antibacterial surface spray and wipes at the start of the pandemic to clean the packaging of food deliveries. I found that supermarket own brands really irritated my chest but when we changed to Dettol spray and wipes, found it to be far less of a problem. He still does this along with wiping kitchen surfaces after and, periodically, door handles. It is quite mild compared to some similar products without much aroma.

Oh ok, i might try some dettol wipes especially for the bathroom and toilet. Other antibac wipes or spray affect me too. Thanks for the info. Years ago i used to love dettol. The brown dettol in a bottle. I didn’t have these health problems then.

They do a 'plain' one and a lemon scented. The lemon really is very strong so we stick to the plain. I hope that they are OK for you xx

I’d probably have the plain. Smells really affect me. ( even though i used to love nice smells, perfume etc.), but now i have to be so careful and i’m sure we all can relate to this.🙁

Me too, so annoying isn't it? Even things that I could tolerate a couple of years ago really get to me now.

Yes, quite upsetting. 🙁

I use Method products as they are good for the environment too, they smell nice and don’t have the overpowering chemicals that result in coughing fits. Vinegar smell hits me in the back of the throat and makes me cough.

I use all the Ecover cleaning products with no problems. I also use the Dettol wipes for handles and the toilet.

That’s good to know. I will continue to use eco. And maybe dettol.🙂
