But sadly its hit me like a ton of bricks , that i'm now officially disabled . Everything that i did in my life before has now gone , and its there on paper, now . .... i just did not expect to feel like this once i got something positive .... sorry if i sound so ridiculous

Hi cappy you don’t sound ridiculous at all. It’s suddenly hit you but not everything has gone it’s just changed now. It will take time to adjust. Please keep talking as we’re here for you. Xxxx

Dear Cappy,That doesn’t sound silly at all! It’s like when your ill health is acknowledged by someone else, and the seriousness of it, it kind of brings it home a bit. Even though you live with it day in and out, when it’s acknowledged, it’s made real...if that makes any sense!...

I felt floored when I had to send my driving license back to the DVLA because I am now insulin dependent. Even though I can still drive, I have to reapply every 2 years for my license. It felt like my world had ended. But I try and look at the things that I can do still! You are still a valuable human being with more than plenty to offer , I am sure! Just with some health issues that restrict some things, but it doesn’t change who you are!!

Sorry for waffle reply!!

I’m glad you have got your pip rewards though!

Hiya, I am glad that you are now getting pip.But what do you mean by that everything that you did in your life in now gone?

You still here and you still are a part of this life.

You know that you have an disability don't take it this hard sweetie, I bet you can still do a lot, like everyone else who has a disability, like everyone of us here has a disability. It's not a bad Omen.

It might does things now much easier for you, think on this in a positive way. That you get the help and support you need, this is important, but nothing is lost sweetie.

It reminds me that I still need to call pip myself, don't know if I have luck this year have been declined two years ago with only 26% volume left in my lungs, and struggle now more.

Please take care of yourself don't be upset about we all here and happy to help you. 😃🌹🌹🌹😃 Sending extra hugs x

Not ridiculous at all. When our health goes south it's a very bitter pill to swallow isn't it? There is no more kidding yourself you can still do what you did and it's quite shocking.

Not at all ridiculous cappy1966 it's a hard one to realise that you are officially disabled but you can't let it get to you and with the benefit it will help relieve the stress of finances too .

Hi PippyIts not ridiculous to feel sad about your disability. Its really hard to come to terms with a change in your life. My respiratory nurse said its like a bereavement of the life you had and the life that you now have. Try to focus on the things you can still do your not alone. I am a member of Stuffthatworks and its a great forum for support and information and freinds that understand the condition. Keep safe

I felt exactly the same. First when I received DLA and then when I started to receive PIP. Thrilled that been successful for a couple of minutes and then “down to earth with a bump” !! Am now relieved that have additional money to help me purchase much needed equipment and to offset higher bills for example heating costs.
