Prednisolone described for breathing difficulties

Any info on Steroid treatment for breathing difficulties ??

I take them for asthma (when it flares) and I find it works well to get me back on track.

Hiya 😌 I take them when flare up with asthma and I feel extremely tight in my chest that I cannot take a deep breath. Steorids will take care that you actually can breathe deeply again, sometimes it's works quite fast depending on how much your Doctor adviced you to take. I take 8 a day for 5 days and it can work wonders, I mostly take them with antibiotics together.

I have severe asthma and COPD.

Hope it helps a bit, but if you see your GP just ask about treatment with steorids and how it can help you or not. But if he gave you some than he would have a reason that it will be helpful for you 😃🍀😃 you take care and stay safe and warm 🍀🍀🍀

I was recently prescribed Dexamethasone for help with breathing! I found this steroid awful with dreadful side effects . I've never had problems with prednisolone and don't know why Dr prescribed the other one unless it's the cheaper option.

As others have said, prednisolone is often a life saver for an asthma exacerbation. I rely on it, with an antibiotic too.

Hello, I take Trimbow for copd as suggested by my "Breathe team" . It contains steroid and works well..

After taking Prednisolone & antibiotic "Rescue Remedy" , My Dr booked me in for a density scan which came back ok...then for a blood test for Vit D. Why tests?....It's because I was taking the "Rescue Remedy", 5 times in a 10 month duration....

My emergency pack (COPD) includes Prednisone. Apparently it helps reduce inflammation within the lungs (I'm no expert) all I know is that when an exacerbation starts, the Prednisone and antibiotics get it under control quite quickly.

i have taken them for Asthma several times, they kick in very quick and i feel much better taking them

One thing I find with Pred is I take it as early in the day as I can, it really disrupts my sleep but that way I do get a few hours in even if they are after midnight

I took prednisone for years ( up to 40mg per day). After a long use of it, I felt it wasn't making any difference. I read that your body produces prednisone, but the added dosage helps people with breathing issues. If you are on it long term, your body stops producing it. That's why, I think doctors don't want to use it for long term use.

I was able to get off it 3 years ago and after awhile, I felt better than when I was taking it.

I've been taking pred since sept for severe asthma, can't get any lower then 25mg without ending up in the hospital. They work well but I hate them so much. I have lots of fluid retention, erratic blood sugars and now muscle weakness as a result of taking them long term.They're really good short term for an asthma or copd flare.

I am on them too and find that they affect my skin.They cause bleeding under my skin resulting in random bruises. They also affect my sleeping. After a talk with my consultant yesterday he is going to get my GP to slowly reduce my dose. I would be happier off them altogether!
