Re posts regarding cruising with Fred Olsen. I just phoned them and when you’ve chosen a cruise ,you will speak to the ships doctor to see if they will accept you if you’re. CEV.

That doesn’t make sense. We were shielding because we were at extra risk if we caught the virus. The CEV will all have been vaccinated and these companies are claiming that their ships are covid free. So what is the purpose of the ship’s doctor deciding whether to allow someone who was shielded to sail?
I am now more suspicious of their motives.
Perhaps they are looking at the bigger picture. CEV is a broad spectrum of vulnerabilities. If, for example, someone has a compromised immune system, it is not only Covid that could present serious problems. I think it is wise that the ship's doctor will look at each case individually to assess potential risks and vulnerabilities. They are trying to safeguard people and not stop them cruising.
You think so? People with compromised immune systems cruised before with no questions. As someone with lifelong bronchiectasis who has done over 30 cruises and round the world twice, alone, I would be certainly not trust any random doctor who does not know my condition to tell me whether I can go or not. People have their own doctors and the advice which they give their patients as whether to travel or not should be sufficient for any holiday company.

I’m not offended with you at all. We all have our ideas. I am deeply offended by a cruise line apparantly seeking a way to exclude some of it’s passengers and their intrusion into the private lives of all passengers. I have never been with Fred Olsen anyway. Their ships are far too old 😂
I’ve been with them once. As I said to the guy on the phone this morning, given their demographic, everyone will be getting interviewed by their doctor! Plenty other ships on the sea!
I have plenty of friends who are over 65yrs. Some well in to 70’s. None of them are CEV so the demographics don’t really work..... I am in early 50’s but CEV. So again wouldn’t fit into the demographic you refer to. 😊
Oh dear, that was meant facetiously and light-heartedly. However a sizeable proportion of Fred’s passengers are over 80 so I would suggest that yes a fair number would be CEV. The trip I went on had a definite “old folks’ home” feel to it, many sleeping away the afternoons in the lounges. At 69 I was one of the youngest on board. Perhaps this was unusual. Have you been on lots of Olsen cruises and therefore know differently?
Fred O's demographic depends on the cruise and time of year. If it is just a 'sunshine' cruise at he end of the year, then older, but in school holidays and on Baltic and Northern Lights types of cruises, definitely younger. I went to Norway in August and young families on board. Also, lots of 'oldies' know how to party into the small hours! (Sorry, I sound like an advert for Fred O).
Haha, no problem, I really enjoyed the trip (Baltic and St Petersburg) but the fixed dining times, the rusty, steamed up windows, the poorly organised trips in Russia and the afternoon slumberfest made me look elsewhere. It didn’t put me off cruises, the opposite in fact, so they did a lot right!
