There is no official badge and it's up to us to get one. There are several places such as Amazon, your local council, or print one off the gov.uk site. BLF also do a printable one so have a look on the site. It's not required by law but does save having to explain you are health exempt numerous times a day and avoid the angry glares of others.

Some shops have the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards which are free or you can purchase from hiddendisabilitiesstore.com... - the y do not sell these on Amazon or eBay.

"Official products are only available from this website as well as from charities who are members of the scheme and who have been authorised to sell the product. These charities will display an official badge and will be selling official Hidden Disabilities Sunflower products. We do not sell any Hidden Disabilities Sunflower product on eBay or Amazon. Hidden Disabilities Sunflower products being sold on these platforms are being resold at inflated prices or are counterfeit or copycat versions which can be misleading, cause confusion by not being recognised quickly by members of the scheme and may mean wearers are not helped as intended.

There is no official badge for those who are health exempt from wearing a face mask. The poster was asking about this so I advised where to get hold of one. They do not have to meet any standards. Other types of badges I don't know about.

I actually was refused entry in my local hospital for an out patient appointment i had my tabard on was using my oxygen and they said unless I wear a mask I can't go for my appointment ,they offered me a visor but I couldn't see out in front of me so I had to take a mask ,I told my GP about the episode that the hospital wanted a letter for me to take next time, my GP said I don't require to wear a mask because of the illness plus I was wearing a BLF tabard, I'm due to go again next week im not wearing one more so whennim on my ambligatury oxygen 5litres prescription.

Oh dear not good. You would think the NHS would know better!

The oxygen supplier Dolby Vivisol advises not to wear a mask over a cannula as the oxygen can build up behind it and affect your dosage.I am surprised that this was not known at the hospital. It is common knowledge with the Resp team.

Any one not wearing a mask puts others at risk as well as puts themselves at risk. NHS and any one else cannot know if you have been infected or anyone you have been in contact with prior to and enroute to the hospital, regardless of being exempt or not. You can understand the caution, just by breathing without a mask you are and others are at risk. I am exempt but I try to wear a mask if I must go into areas inside where there are people outside of my bubble and household. If I can I go back outside for a breather when the mask becomes too much. Stay safe and be well.

I wouldn't go into the hospital if I didn't feel right ,when you are wearing a Canular it becomes difficult to breath if you was wearing a mask plus they take your temperature when booking in

I use 6 litres of ambulatory oxygen and I only put the oxygen over my mouth not my nose and I was told to do so in July When I went to the hospital Rheumathology day unit. I have been to different departments of my local hospital and have only had the mask over my mouth and no one has told me off. I have however taken the mask off whilst in the hospital to have a drink and also to eat the lunch I was given in the day unit.

Ring your local council if you mean blue badge. You give details of illness etc. And they will asses your needs for a blue badge it can be done on line. My local council were very helpful (Birmingham) good luck.

Hello bigden I'm foxy to get a badge for your wife you need to get it through your local council just get on the site and press disabled badge and the council's name. You will need proff of disability that's comes under copd and proff of income and log book of a vehicle to obtain a badge. Hope that helps you

Excuse me, but I am somewhat confused here. How will getting a blue badge for disabled parking help to get over whether you will be admitted anywhere without wearing a mask? I have spent months and months at home not going anywhere because I can't cope with wearing a mask. I chose to do this because I don't want to have to deal with rude and ignorant people who don't seem to have the capacity to understand that not all can do this. Instead when I have gone out, I sit in the car in my parking space whilst my husband does the shopping and we communicate on our phones when he needs assistance on our shop. Also how can you use the blue badge to get in a shop when you have to leave it on show in the car?

It was my understanding, as Hypercat has said, there is no official badge for not wearing a mask but that you can download some kind of badge from somewhere and hope it will be accepted without contradiction or any kind of nastiness. Unfortunately it would appear that this isn't always the case apparently.

The blue badge does not exempt mask wearing.

Well I didn't think it did but thanks for clarifying it. Talking at 'cross purposes ' springs to mind on this post! I really should have recognized that!

Thank you. I was only talking about face masks re exemption which is what the poster asked. I don't understand why it has gone off in a tangent like this. It makes no sense at all.

Hi Foxy, happy New year to you too! It is a difficult dilemma to find oneself in referring to downloaded exemption badges and there are still those, even on this forum, who still think because they can wear a mask everyone else ought to be able to. Well not everyone can and what I'm saying is I'm not a confrontational person and don't see that I should have to answer to some nosy pipsqueak in the general public my reasons and business for not wearing one. This is why I prefer to keep my distance. I wonder how they would feel if I waved my DNR at them! Foxy, the gov have left those like us to fend for ourselves!

I worry about people not wearing masks and simply would rather avoid contact with people I.e. shops, crowds and particularly hospitals than not wear one.I think it’s a very dangerous practice at the moment. There are also many many breathable masks out there now .
