Dry Mouth

Can anybody recommend spray for dry mouth as I am on oxygen overnight and have problems due to waking up during the night.

There is a dry mouth spray your doctor could prescribe. Pete used to use one but can’t remember the name. Xxx

I have been having great luck with Biotene Fresh Mint Moisturizing Oral Rinse Mouthwash, Alcohol-Free, for Dry Mouth. I rinse before bed.....

It's not a spray but Xylimelts are very good for a dry mouth. It recommends that you use two at a time but one is plenty! I bought them for my mum who suffers from very dry mouth, the first time she used them she used two as per recommendation and said it was like having a waterfall in her mouth!

Thanks for the info Hungryhufflepuff, I just ordered them from USA on ebay, they are not sold here in Gibraltar . I have tried a few sprays and gels ,none any good so far.

Xylimelts are brilliant. I've tried artificial saliva sprays but none of them seemed to work for any amount of time. Xylimelts slowly dissolve overnight and coat the inside of your mouth which takes a bit of getting used to but I no longer wake up with a dry, sore mouth. I would certainly recommend them to you.

I’m on oxygen 24/7 and during the day the dry mouth is manageable, but at night it is rotten. Thank you all for the recommendations, I’ll certainly give them a try. Jax

I’m on Chemotherapy & my mouth is very dry at night & also very sore... does anyone know if these would be any good for me...I’m at my wits end, it’s stopping me sleeping.

Hi Helen. I'm sure these will be beneficial to you. Certainly worth a try. They've made a big difference to my sleeping pattern and Ino longer get woken during the night with a dry, sore mouth.

It's the waking up during the night and not getting a good nights sleep makes you feel worse

Not for the same reason as you but I frequently wake up during the night with a very dry mouth so I always take a cold drink to bed with me and have a back up bottle of flavoured water next to the bedside cabinet. I did try a Moisturising mouthwash but that didn't seem to work for me. I really do hope that you can find something that suits you because I know how it disturbs sleep. Good Luck.

Dave, I am on oxygen 24/7 and the best thing for me was having my oxygen supplier instill a humidifier on my concentrator. Very much low- tech, but very much effective in keeping nasal passages and mouth from drying out. Suggest you follow up with your oxygen supplier, judg69

I had spoken to British Oxygen and was told that because I was on 1ltr a minute it would not work
