Pune, India, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Nov, 2020 ) :The world's largest vaccine manufacturer by volume said Saturday it would apply for an emergency licence for a coronavirus vaccine within two weeks, and that confusion over the efficacy would not delay its distribution.
Serum Institute of India chief executive Adar Ponnawala also confirmed that the Pune-based giant would be able to produce at least 100 million doses a month from early 2021 of Covishield, which was developed by Astrazeneca and Oxford University.
Poonawalla spoke after a visit to the plant by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose government wants 300-400 million doses by July next year as the country battles a new surge in the pandemic.
In the early days of the Pandemic many doctors stated that they would happily take a vaccine with 50% efficiency. Each of the vaccines have problems and I have more worries about storage temperature for the other vaccine than with the Oxford one.
Storage in India, a developing nation, probably had a very big influence in it's choice. It is not worth producing the others if it will be difficult to distribute, plus of course they are proprietary owned, after huge profits and may even cost a months wages in India. Whereas the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine known as 'Covishield' in India, will be produced at cost.
The staff in this hospital tell me that they have been informed vacc for them will be starting on dec 9. I haven't heard that any vaccine actually has full approval yet. Maybe the powers that be know something we don't. My MP is the minister for the vacc. Keep your fingers crossed for him. He is from a business and organisational background so not a lawyer or an academic ideologist. Not goid in television interviews but hopefully up to the practical challenge of distribution.🤞

Thank you Bkin. I am still stuck in here as they are doing every kind of blood test to try to figure out why bleeding from lungs, nose, eye blood vessels and huge black bruises everywhere. All results seem to be normal to v good. They are going to stop the anticoagulant tonight as no more bleeding. Then it is 🤞
LP,I know you may find my question rather silly but has anybody actually done an antibodie test to ensure you haven't had Covid in the past as it is known to have created many issues with regard to blood and clotting and other blood related issuesx
I don't think it is a silly question at all. I might have said that I am convinced that I caught it from Chinese tourists in oct long before it was admitted that it had got out. Of course they just say that it wasn't here until feb so you and I are whistling in the wind with our very reasonable ideas. I have had 2 negative covid tests in here. They say that all of my blood tests are very good and have now done extra clotting tests. I am due o go to my con at the big teaching hospital in Brum for a follow up on this in 2 wks and I feel that the local boys would like to crack it before the big guns get rolled out. My sats 98 bp ok, heart rate usual for me. Sooo tired but that is more to do with hospital sleep deprivation. Thanks for your interest. Twinkle is missing scruffs. Not silly at all. I am going to be asking the very same question with reference to the appearance of pulmonary fibrosis (scarring) in my upper right lobe in a few weeks time. Fibrosis can also be a legacy of Covid.
It was previously suggested, in August, that it was from my radiotherapy, which cannot be correct. I had SABR, a focused beam treatment on the opposite, left, side 12" away and it would have had to pass through my heart as well. If it is a result of the radiotherapy, then I am concerned about the possibility of heart damage, which was not mentioned, I am, understandably, confused. I wish it was going to be a physical appointment instead of via a phone call and I could view the actual scan for myself.
It could of course simply be from damage caused by a rather large, known, benign nodule, but not mentioned, further adding to my confusion.
Another concern with what is happening in my bowels. I still do not have an appointment for a Colonoscopy, although I have done the blood tests and had the results (all good). I have a feeling it is going to be a long phone call.
