Panic buying in the extreme again. At the local Lidl store just 50 yards away from home, saw a trolley full of flour being loaded into a car. Obviously the lessons from the Spring have not been learnt.

Boring news which will never change because there must be certain people that would shop like that. Maybe they have no conscience for the "shieleded" folk who only wanted 4-5 items? Disgraceful. Totally gets my blood boiling - like the illegal rave's that attract 100's of people that still go on. It's going to take a united effort to kick this COVID-19 to the kerb. 😡☹️😪😷 . 🐿🌈.
I think you're right SH. People wont take it seriously and are likely to continue the spread. Part of the reason is likely to be the government's bad communication and outright lies about the world beating track and trace system and their employing people to manage it - friends basically - who are entirely unqualified and inexperienced.
We are ok for food as we've just bought a bit extra each time we were shopping, so we can get by until the panic subsides, which it will. Hard for those who need food and other vital products.

Thats what we do buy a bit extra in good times and have a pantry for emergencies so no need to panic buy.
The Morrison’s near us had to close yesterday because too many people were trying to get in at once. There’s no chopped tomatoes today!

The last time I ventured into Sainsbury's after lockdown, they were still restricting flour purchases I wanted 3 types and could only purchase 2. I guess it depends on the management of the particular store.

When will some people learn and stop being selfish I have also been buying a little extra when I shop so I'm ok for food, but some people can't do that they depend on people being fair while shopping which is the right thing to do. Those who panic buy are not only selfish but thoughtless. It makes me so angry. Rant over have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxx
I found the same in my coop supermarket today. I assumed the shelves hadn't been filled until the lady on the till mentioned it. Ridiculous!
In Farmfoods I saw a woman loading up her trolley with toilet rolls.

Had a Tesco delivery today, I was out of loo paper, but they only had huge packs! I'm lucky, I had the money to spend £8.00 in one go and the space to store it! Why are people so unthinking? xx

It was inevitable that some would be selfish. There really is no need for it but unless stores stop shoppers from bulk buying some will always do it.
It’s hugely difficult ....I guess some people go into survival mode.

I spent ages clearing items out of my click and collect order for tomorrow as they were no longer in stock. Hate that we have to suffer because of those who rate themselves with a height of self importance.
Will be another few weeks of paying for the more expensive items and being creative

I was angry back in April when a store hadn't got any eggs and I had to go to another one but I did get them eventually but I was angry due to the fact that there was no need for that kind of behaviour and for others to go without basic things like food.
Ocado have started virtual queuing again now as well, luckily being vulnerable we have been able to get some sort of priority since the last lockdown!

I have an order due for delivery from Sainsbury's BSE on Wednesday this week (i had the order placed before the announcement) but I am now left wondering how much of it I will get. On the bright side I am not ordering any Toilet Rolls!
These selfish people do not consider those in society that only have enough money for each weeks shopping and find they cannot get just their basic weekly shop because of all this panic buying. I feel so sorry for them.
I am Ok as I always have some tinned and packet goods in store for an emergency. I have even started buying a few bits extra each week so that I can donate to our local foodbank as so many people are losing their jobs through no fault of their own and falling on hard times at the moment .
When I was a child (I know that was a long time ago now) I remember a community where neighbour's all helped each other out and certainly nobody had the money or credit cards to go out panic buying and stripping the shop shelves bare. OK I will stop reminiscing now.

Morons! Panic buying isnt a new thing.As a young mum in the 70s I remember the sugar shortage and the queues at the supermarket. I wrote an article about selfish pensioners which got published.My mother in law refused to speak to me for ages!😂 Stores should limit purchases when this behaviour manifests itself.
I have to agree, purchases should be limited. Whether they like it or not stores are part of our communities and as such should display that spirit.
It also makes sound economical sense. If they do not allow panic buying then the stock will remain on the shelves for sale. Allowing panic buying is only a way of making a 'quick buck'. A bigger sustainable profit can be made as they will have a much larger footfall if shoppers are guaranteed to be able to buy their normal shop there, not wanting to spend hours traipsing from shop to shop looking for a loo roll. It will also probably generate a bigger loyalty than any 'club card' scheme.

The supermarkets/shops have the control on this, they really shouldnt be allowing bulk buying . You really cant change people so its not surprising this is happening again. I read an article of a young mum who spent something like £250 and ended up throwing most of it in the bin, but said she would do the same again, amazing x
