Recommendation air filter

Looking to get an air filter/purifier. Would anyone have any recommendations. Thanks in advance.

We bought the Dyson Cool Me after a lot of looking around and I have to say since using it I am able to sleep better without coughing all night. Expensive but seems to help me a lot

I use a tall Dyson one (it cools if needed but doesn't heat). It is quite a lot of money, especially as it's the top of the range but I think it helps and I was really glad I had it in summer.

The filters need changing once a year direct from Dyson about £65.

I also have a Dyson. (Hot and Cold) I run it on auto which is brilliant. Most of the time it runs very quietly, so much so you don’t know it is on. Then it will kick in on high when it detects something. It was expensive, but I am happy with it, to the point of buying a Dyson Cool for the bedroom in the summer.

Same here, I wouldn’t be without my Dyson (hot and cold) air purifier. I has made such a difference to my breathing, and can always rely on it to troubleshoot when set on auto. It’s become my lullaby at bedtime, when I always set it on for an hour, longer if lungs are being troublesome.

I had a Vax first, pleased up to a point. On continuously, so just a bit noisy, and have to regularly vacuum the filter. I have more confidence in the Dyson.....very expensive though. Saving for a second one for downstairs permanently now, not very easy to carry about the house.

Bought a new closed gas fire last winter, but gives me breathing problems if on for more than 20 mins, so using it very sparingly. The Dyson, set on Warm, heats the room quickly to supplement central heating set quite low. I’ve got one of those electricity monitors, and was amazed how little power it uses. So win, win I think.

You can hear a hum-like noise when it’s switched on and the automatic setting brings it into operation. If the air needs further cleaning, you will hear it go up a gear to a faster operating mode. Equally as the job gets done it goes back down to almost silent. If it switches itself off for a while, it’s silent of course. If you set it onto continuous operation, you will hear it then till you switch it off, or timer switches it off

The noise is not intrusive, I find, and it’s quite useful hearing it go up a gear, enables you to learn what’s causing air impurities.

I bought a Levoit. It’s brilliant and is fully automatic. Cost around £200 . It’s very quiet. Replacement filters are about £40 I believe. The only downside is the size. It’s fairly big drum shaped.
