Has your doctor not advised carbocisteine. I know it doesn't work for everyone but it does for me

I’m glad your GP is on the case.

I had the same problem, it didn’t have the eight loss.

A nebuliser and Carbocysteine really help me.

Keep in touch.

Has your gp referred you to a specialist to find out what is wrong with you? Has your gp ask for a sample of your mucus? Which would indicate a fungal or bacteria infection in your lungs. Your increase in mucus could be due to allergies, food allergies, environment...

When I'm going thru a bad period of time with coughing and mucus increase, it always affects my appetite and I always lose weight.

You need some answers..and if your gp doesn't have them, then go see a pulmonary specialist.

Has your GP considered referring you to a dietitian for your unplanned weight loss? It will depend on whether you could afford to lose the weight or not, but you certainly can't afford to keep losing weight at that rate.

I gone from 9.7 to 7 7

Unless you are about 5 foot tall or less, you really don't want to be losing any more weight. Do ask your GP for a referral to a dietitian.

That is a lot of weight to lose so quickly and really does need investigation. However, it may not be anything too serious.

Back in 1999, I was going to Weight Watchers. Every week I lost 2lb without trying! The leader asked me how I had changed my diet (in order to inspire others!). I told her the only thing I could think of was that every Friday, my colleagues would go to the shop at lunchtime and bring me back a huge family sized bar of Galaxy chocolate which I would then work my way through!! Naturally, she was horrified. But the weight loss continued so I kept eating the chocolate.

Then I had a few random symptoms and the GP did a blood test which showed I had an over active thyroid!! Galaxy was not the answer after all!

I was on tablets for about a year and then it all settled down and I've been fine ever since.

I hope that your problem is as simple to sort out as mine was. Meanwhile, don't be afraid to nag your GP if you don't think they are doing enough to find out the cause. You really do need to know.

Hope you get the blood test results ASAP Emily. Perhaps some nutrition shakes may help for now and lots of water to thin the mucus. Take care hope you get to the bottom of it soon and get sorted.

Did you go back to work? Cx
