Well mum has finally lost the plot. She found a flea on my cat out came the steamer thing off came custions bedding and anything that m was movable it got moved just incase it had any friends . She has a thing about them so goes into panic mode and has been cleaning and hoovering all day . Poor cat got banished until she found flea drops and had a good brush. What a day she won't use chemicals around me so this could go on for days if not weeks all over just one flea. Lol

You can get some really great flea treatments these days so try some research perhaps. I can’t recall what we used for Tessa but we got a prescription from the vet and sent it off with the order. Tessa was allergic to Frontline so we couldn’t use that.

Your mum’s doing the right thing by vacuuming etc. Hope all will be ok very soon.....lol.

Take care xxxxx

Can understand that reaction having once had a big problem with fleas courtesy of a pet cat. I went a bit berserk too. I found that one soon become many.

I got a flea collar for the cat which seemed to work once I'd got rid of them indoors. A friend used to get her cat injected at the vets annually to prevent it picking up fleas which was very successful, but I don't know what the cost of that was.

Good! Problem will soon be solved, but make sure the house is clear of fleas before you use your product...

She sounds great. Can’t say I was too fussed about fleas but we were happy to dose the cat with toxic stuff. There was no one who would be at risk from such stuff.

Your Mum sounds like me I’m totally neurotic about fleas.

There are injections you can have at the vets which are very good. Also drops like advantage work well, some cats are immune to frontline.

Please don’t put a flea collar on the cat, they can make the cat go bald!

Steam cleaning is good kills the little critters.

Also, I know chemicals aren’t a good idea for you but I use a spray called Indorex you only need to use it once a year. If you can do a room and keep out of it for the rest of the day and the sitting room at night it’s well worth it. Can get it from Amazon, cheaper than the vet.

It’s as important to do the house as well as the cat.

I really don’t like fleas and as I have five cats and a visitor I really am like your mum!

I use a bone comb or flea comb. They are very cheap and you can get them from the chemist. My cat loves being groomed with one, ever since he had a bad infestation which we cleared up with a spot-on treatment from the vet. You just have to be brave enough to squash the little critters pulled out of the fur by the comb.

Oh dear- I 'm like your mum- I. go overboard. One of our cats got a bad flea infestation . I was hovering, steaming and got some strong stuff you put in the middle of the room and it sprayed up- you had to stay out of the room for a while . It happened when I didn't replace a flea collar . Hopefully all fleas will disappear- you'll be lucky if it was just one. xx

Why don't you put your cat on anti-flea medication? I don't blame your Mom at all! I'd be freaking out, too. If you do not want to medicate the cat, then buy him/her a flea collar for goodness sakes...easy fix.

Hubby just the same he has a habit of getting a bit from his favourite cat who he says it's my cat that has the fleas so any way rugs up. Anywhere cats sit like window sills and his clothes all in hot wash to get rid of little pests
