Elusive letter

Everyone writes about this letter, which only appears applicable to England. Apart from an email from the NHS about lockdown and shielding I have had nothing from anyone. My husband, who is the a/c holder for Sainsbury’s, had an email saying he is prioritised but since he omitted to either tell me or forward the message we have missed last weeks slots. Since I’m the one who does the ordering I was rather cross, to put it mildly! Nothing so far in the week to come, and when I tried to make up an order yesterday the website had a wobble! Fortunately, having lived 10 years in a far flung part of the world by ingrained habit I have always kept a good stock cupboard. As I used to say to the children whenever we had a blizzard, we might end up eating some odd meals but we won’t starve. Many blessings to everyone, and keep well xx

It becomes a habit . I used to laugh at my mum with her stock but i am rthe same and always buy before i run out comes of being a child during and after the war i think so i wont starve but it will be so boring without fruit and veg . I also hate all the food we ate tnen parsnips carrots swedes ugh! All tbe ones that keep.

You ,ll be happier when you can try next week.

I do the same, because I used to live in remote hamlets where a shopping trip was an expedition.

Again you fall through the net. But you will survive. Your best beloved will not forget again... Luckily the email came to me, we ordered on Wednesday and it arrived on Friday. Wow... Shall try again after Easter.

Love to you both,

Kate xx

P.S. Aren’t Sundays strange? and Easter will be seriously odd... DIY?

Every day now is like the Sundays I remember as as child/teenager. Deadly quiet and people out for walks because there was nothing else to do. My friends and I used to go walks looking for “talent” that was also out for a walk!

Over the years in the area I live in we have been snowed in on more than a few occasions. I have an emergency box with candles, torches etc and like you have a small just in case amount of food. Both myself and my wife have had letters but as of yet no offers of a slot. Due to my insomnia I am often able to get a slot every 7 to 10 days as they become available during the night.

I can’t believe your husband lived to tell the tale 😂. Good luck I hope you get another slot.

Went to have my INR check this morning, in the car park, and asked the nurse about the letter. She said I was definitely vulnerable (surprise surprise) and should have heard, and will check. When we got home I had a call from the hospital eye department asking if I was alright, which was good. They offered an appointment soon as the last one was cancelled, but since I have all the other problems I declined, so they will postpone it for six months, but if things get worse I must go to the emergency department.
