looseloafers, nobody on this site can give you a safe answer to that as we are not qualified to do so,a lot depends on your own and very individual condition and if you were someone who retained Co2 any advice to increase it might be positively dangerous, perhaps it would be best to gain advice from either the person or team who prescribe your oxygen or the respiratory department of a local hospital?

Sorry i would love to say just tweak it up a bit but it is just too dangerous and irresponsible to do so.

Best wishes Ski's and Scruff's

You need to contact your respiratory team responsible for prescribing and monitoring your oxygen therapy to answer your query.

Sue i am conscious that we have sort of left you out on a limb with this and i just wanted to reassure you that those figures you quoted whilst not ideal are not alarmingly low.Consultants try to keep us Copd patients within the realm of 88-92 knowing that our lungs are challenged and as long as those dips are not for a long period of time then you should come to no real harm, obviously you still need to contact your respiratory team asp to check all is well and any necessary adjustments in levels is quickly ascertained to get you back on that even keel of 88-92 but i just wanted to give you a little reassurance.

Best wishes Ski's and Scruff's x

Thank you so much for the reply. Yes I will speak to my respiratory nurse on Monday I just wondered if anyone had the same problem. Stay safe ❤️

Sue i am sat here without oxygen and my sats are 87,i am not breathless and if i did feel a bit bushed i would switch on my cylinder and top myself up a little.not perfect but perfectly safe and doable. :) x

Morning Hun, I am a C02 retainer and would love to tweak mine up, but until I can get an Oxygen Nurse, I dare not, Last time (last year)I did this it made my 02 Transfer bad. The Nurses are over worked or there are No Replacement Nurses, understandable, So make the most of having your Oxygen, I was 16/7 now I am 24/7. I use my Ventolin a lot more & I use a Salt Pipe which helps me.

Also Lung Exercises every day, which help a lot and Physical Exercises every day. Good Luck Hun, Do your Best, and once this is all over we can Call on the Help we have always had previously. Stay Safe and Breathe. PS; I have 17% Lung Capacity. XXXX C.

I was supposed to have an at home oxygen assessment which was cancelled so i did my own and upped my resting level to 2l. My resting oxygen was 90 but i got out of breath going to get a cup of tea. You need to turn yours up to at least two

Hi Looseloafers

The level of oxygen you are on might be low but remember it is a prescription and can only be increased by your respiratory doctor or nurse. It is very dangerous to change it yourself as you might be a retainer. I know what you mean about needing more as we are all trying to breath without a struggle but it is only the medical staff that can assess you because of the danger. Please take care and ask your AN about it as we are not qualified to say increase of not.

Regards

Eian
