I believe you are suffering with anxiety paul. There are ways of overcoming this whether through medication (if you want to go up this route) or recognising this as something that you can deal with yourself and be willing to help yourself. There are the usual exercise groups to attend, meditation or even reading ways or tips on line. Even just going through the motions will get you out of that den of antiquity you are in. Just the act of doing something positive like going out for a walk in the fresh air and meeting other people can help. Sometimes you have to make the effort of doing something to break through this feeling you are experiencing even if you don't want to. I want to hear you post back that you will try to do something positive. I'm routing for you Paul! Regards, Chrys
Try singing exercises to help you get better control over your diaphragm and the other muscles in your torso. When you have more control over your breathing, it makes it easier to control hyperventilated breathing attacks. And singing releases the natural feelgood endorphins which can help you feel better even though circumstances may not have changed. All the best.
