Hello Richard,

I have been on Prednisolone for 2 years starting at 50 mg for 3 months, 37.5 mg for 2 months, 25mg for 3 months, 20 mg for 2 months, 15 mg for 3 months and then 10 mg to date. I have suffered, amongst a myriad of side effects, neurological pain in my shins with continual tingles in my toes at night. When I was on the toxic dose I developed blood spots and extreme tenderness on the outer shins. The pharmacist who dispensed the drug warned me about ongoing nerve side effects especially on the long term dose that was prescribed to me. So yes, it is a well known problem. My various Lung Specialists made various comments from I've never heard of this reaction to total silence. The aim from all specialists is to stop taking the drug but if it is keeping you alive, I guess you have to weigh up the alternatives as I do. It's a bastard but what else can you do about it? For me, in the scheme of things,it is manageable. Just don't allow you four legged friends to jump all over you when you're in bed. Yowee!

I’m currently weaning myself off steroids after high doses while spending a fortnight in hospital will take me 75 days. I have no patience at all snapping like a dragon missed out on the champagne yesterday really fed up. Thanks for the tip about dog on bed my husband thinks it me what’s soft but he really hurts when he climbs over me I have bruises to prove it. Will be glad when this year is over endured cancer ulcerated colitis hence all the steroids one good news my mammogram was clear so positive into 2020 so happy new year to you all and good health

Have taken it for the last time in September this year. Each time I've taken it , I've got worse with all the side effects, I'm not taking no man made suicidal drugs, just to get better quicker. How the hell do you feel better when a lot of these medications they keep making, make you feel like committing suicide. Not every body gets bad side effects. But I'm unlucky when it comes to taking medication. They should call this drug , deathly not prednisolone. Hope you are ok with it. Mezz1

Merry Christmas to my friends "Across the Pond" !

I have ongoing issues with Bird Lung Disease. But I do continue living with my beloved parrots . Due to numerous Negative side effects from Prednisone over the years I endeavor to keep my air quality allergen free with Hepa air purification units and filters.

I do Not wish to have to go on Prednisone ever again.

I have taken 20mg of prednisone for more than 10 yrs. Sometimes I would have to increase for long periods of time to just to keep going.

A year and half ago, I was able to wean off of it. Of course, my arthritic is more noticeable (I'm 70), so that is to be expected.

I was able to tolerate it pretty well. At one point in time, I had to take 80mg a day for several months, I did gain weight and had trouble sleeping during that time.

I retired 4 yrs ago (less stress), moved to an area where the air quality it better and into a newly built house (environment factors). Four years ago, I also, had a stem cell treatment done to help repair the damage to the lungs.

I also take a long term low dosage of an antibiotic.

Sometimes even the small and/or little changes can help. A few months ago, I bought new bed pillows, after a week or two, I noticed that I was coughing alot during the night. It dawned on me, my new pillow were goose down filled. I then bought hypo-allergenic pillows and soon after, the night coughing stopped.
