Yes I think it does help you live longer it reminds me of the song Look on the bright side of life monty python I think? By the way I think you are one of the most positive people on this site and a good influence.

I'll have to pay more attention to the other great philosophies of Monty Python 😁

Sorry 2greys this maybe sounds like I was being facetious, not my intention and I do believe that being positive (and trying to not get stressed or anxious) is good for the health.

Thanks so much you have made my day cant stop laughing!

in reply to soul-123

What made it hilarious was the circumstances in which it was sung.

Good Morning Hun, You are so right, With our Conditions, it is the only way to Live, and to encourage others on here to be the same, Most of us here are always Looking on the Bright Side, I always Plan something to Look forward too. I have planned a River mini cruise( only 3 hours) for my Breathe Easy Exercise Group for 20th September, we are all so excited, some of us are on Oxygen, some in Wheelchairs, so I know Looking on the Bright side makes us all Happy & Live Longer. Have a Great Day 2 G's. Hugs C. xxxx

Yes, your right there. About your river trip though, being with other people with similar problems as ourselves is also a comfort, as you know they understand your difficulties and how you are feeling. How lovely you arrange and organise trips like this for yourself and others as that I in itself can take it out of you. I would think you are very much appreciated in your circle. Keep up the good work! Chrys

I'll agree with that 2greys. Though it doesn't come naturally to everyone, some of us have to work on it....still I'm sure it counts the better for trying Xxx

I agree 2gs, whole heartedly, been practising for 30 years but boy it gets tough when your body hurts and your lungs (or maybe it's my heart) are jumping about. My head is always planning something, can't wait for the rest of me to catch up. Onwards and upwards Jane.

Utter non sense. Science works in the same way weather if you are happy or sad with the world. studies like this have pre bias and intendeed to proove our precption. the study tries to erase the distinction between a doctor and a religious preachers. These kind studies make patient flock religious preachers as they offer something better in their next life too. the chronic disease is frustrating for both doctors tired of giving same advice and patient not able to get better. the main probleme is science is not complete. if science actually solve the chronic disease problems everybody gets positive look on life.

Sorry but I think you are talking nonsense. The enjoyment of life and the will to stay alive and laugh and accept yourself as you are is a vital ingredient, not only in revovery but in acceptance of the way things are, and the determination to live your life regardless. This has been proven many times.

Our cousins across the water seem to have an endless pot of money to spend on research that typically concludes what anybody with an ounce of common sense could have already told them.

But there are some seriously grumpy people out there who live to a ripe old age so bless them for bucking the trend...... :)

You just need to think of something that everyone knows or everyone does and market it as a new concept and get rich from it. Like mindfulness. That means, thinking about stuff. Or avocados. You get your avocado knife, your avocado masher, your pot in which to keep your avocado and of course the books about the ways in which to use your avocado 🥑So I’m trying to come up with an idea to make me rich.

Mindful avocado wokeness: Conscious vegetable non-discrimination for all 🤑

skischool profile image
skischool in reply to HungryHufflepuff

I will be mindful of your new philosophy once i can get my head around the fact that an Avocado never ripens to a point where it is edible but either remains stubbornly hard or turns into a brown horrible unpalatable mess........:)

HungryHufflepuff profile image
HungryHufflepuff in reply to skischool

I started replying to you about festering avocados 🥑🧟‍♂️ but deleted it because 2greys is going to get home from work, look at his post, and wonder how the heck it turned into a conversation about avocados 🤔

(But you’re right, how is it that avocados stay like a rock for weeks then go from rock hard to black oozing slime overnight. It’s one of the great mysteries of life)

Ah I have sussed this. It is ok for about a day so I keep squeezing it until I am sure. Will I make a fortune for advertising that? :D xx

I find it hard to understand Redsox why you would feel bad for people who don't agree with your philosophy in life, surely that is a negative thought and will ruin the benefits you gain from your own positivity?......:)

Hacienda profile image

Ha Ha Ha, Very Positive RedSox. Thank You. C. xxx

I have to agree with Skis, especially as I was totally agreeing with 2greys initial post. We were maybe being a little cynical but all in the best possible humour. Using humour can be a means to an end of looking on the bright side of life. When life throws lemons, make a joke 🍋

skischool profile image
skischool

The fact that you feel bad for people who don't follow your own train of thought is surely not good for you as it detracts from your positive thinking.Anyway that's neither here nor there and i shall continue to carry a flag for the less optimistic people in life.... :)

skischool profile image
skischool

Lighten up Redsox you often bemoan that not enough research is being done into the study of and cure for lung diseases and i was merely alluding to the fact that the researchers could have spent their funds more wisely on conditions that really need in depth research as opposed to this probably unnecessary study,it was neither a dig at Americans in general or a personal retort to yourself..... :)

p.s I still remain a pessimist though lol

skischool profile image
skischool

I am a complete anti royalist, you won't find a truer republican when it comes to my feelings about them, however i have also looked at the economics side and taking apart their personal wealth and land ownership it would appear that what they bring in in terms of tourism, and good will, especially from across the pond sort of counter balances what we give them to spend on their tradition .... :)

HungryHufflepuff profile image
HungryHufflepuff

How I interpret things is beyond me, too. If ever you understand my logic, please let me know. May I extend a hand of friendship and move on from the Great Avocado Controversy. I don't like argument or conflict, I just get a little defensive about my humour because it's how I cope with life but some people think I just go through life being deliberately stupid. Any stupidity is entirely natural. And now you know why I don't drink! Can you imagine?!! 🤡
