Woe Is Me.

Reversing up my campervan

As many times before

To park it on the driveway

Until I need it more.

Then I heard a nasty crunch

I didn't like that sound

But neither Midge or Dolly

Even bothered turning round.

I'd knocked my neighbour's wall down

That's unfortunate I thought

It should never have jumped out like that

I've two witnesses in support.

But neither of those passengers

Would even say a word

How's that for gross disloyalty?

It's the worst I've ever heard!

But now I've had the wall fixed

And my campervan as well

So no one now will ever know

Unless those scallywags tell.

Glad all is sorted out now. Your passengers were so confident that you knew what you were doing, thought it was part of the plan! 😂

I don't know how I managed to hit anything, I have a camera on the back of mine. 🙄

Brilliant poem. I did similar but at least it was my own wall I knocked down! Hope you enjoy your motoring together now the weather’s improving. x

Walls just fall down by themselves - I was weeding our heather bed and suddenly a pile of bricks appeared! Just hiding under some dead heather!

in reply to Lyd12

I sure they take it upon themselves to go wandering around as they get older.

Shouldnt read your poems when I am having a cuppa and laughing so much, nearly choked. Hope you have good neighbours. X

in reply to Izb1

Yes, I have no complaints about my neighbours. They promised to keep their walls under control in future.🙄

Glad to hear it, they could have moved the wall over a little for you so save any future problems ha😅😅

Thank you Joy, I'm looking forward to a good year this year. My campervan is in for a complete refurbishment, I'm assured it will look like new when I get it back. Fitting transport for my new friends Dolly and her soon to arrive sister, Scarecrow Sally. Midge will be riding shotgun as usual. 😎

What campervan do you have Don and whereabouts are you based?

in reply to peter06

It’s similar to the Romahome R30 there’s a photo of it on my profile banner. That’s near where I live in Merseyside.

Brilliant.

Oh dear Don! But at least you're unharmed, and it was only the van and the wall, both of which could be replaced? But you are a one-off - irreplaceable! 👌

Ah skallywags another mystery word for me. Imagine it means something like those little hoodlum types getting into mischief?🤷‍♀️ Do you guys have Uber there? Might want to give them a thought on driving you around once in awhile. Thankfully Dolly wasn’t injured.

BrianTaylor profile image
BrianTaylor in reply to Sandyeggo

Think it’s scallywags, or scally if you are from Liverpool, and yes, it means mischievous low level hooligans 😊

in reply to Sandyeggo

The Concise Oxford Dictionary says thus; Scallywag /Ⴀˈskaliwaɡ/ (US also scalawag) Ⴂnoun informal 1 a mischievous person; a rascal. 2 US a white Southerner who collaborated with northern Republicans during the post-Civil War reconstruction period.

– origin C19: of unknown origin.

The word does have a slightly darker meaning for Liverpudlians as Brian suggests. 😉

We do have Uber in the UK but it has never caught on where I live. Dolly will be very busy supervising the refurbishment of my campervan. I forgot to take her out before they took it away to be done. 🙄 Her wayward sister Scarecrow Sally will be here to greet her when she gets back. Sally arrived this morning somewhat grumpy and dishevelled.

So Dolly's off on an adventure of her own? Isn't Midge jealous, or did you not tell her?

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

I think Midge was quite happy to let Dolly sit supervising them workng on the refurbishment. 😉
