Used to be on Seratide 250 for a few years, now on Relvar Ellipta 182/92 has anyone else been changed over like me? I’ve got Asthma /Mild COPD.

I don’t know if the steroid part is the same or not does anyone know?

Also I’m thinking the Relvar being a powder may not be fully getting into my lungs as opposed to Seretide which was used with an Aero Chamber plus.

Hello Darceydoo, I too was diagnosed with bronchiecstasis and a return of my old asthma in spades last year. I was switched onto Relvar ellipta as well as Incruse ellipta. As you say the Relvar is the steroid component the Incruse apparently is akin to ventolin in that it opens up the airways prior to using the Relvar. Both are powder and like you I was unsure how much was getting into my lungs. However, it must be since I have been so well since taking them both. My only problem, and it is one I am going to my doctor with, is that it has affected my voice and I now sound very croaky and am clearing my throat more than usual. It may be that this is the price to pay, but I don’t like inhaling powder and feel it coats my voice box. Has anyone else had this problem? I brush my teeth after using it and gargle with salt water solution to try to get rid of as much residue as possible. Hope this helps...

I used to get this. I found gargling before as well as after inhaler helped. My theory was that if my throat was already very wet the drug would stick less and be easier to rinse off with the after gargle. I'm now on Fostair & no longer have the croak, still do the double gargle though

Thank you so much for a very helpful tip. I will try this and speak to my doc about changing to Fostair as am getting fed up with being constantly asked if I have a cold!

I have just been taken off Seretide 500 and dropped to Seretide 100 apparently it is due to the amount of steroid in the drug which is felt is not needed on a daily basis
