Hi Balloo sorry to hear about your problems you sound like you are really going through it. I’m not sure what to suggest in the way of exercise with broken ribs. Maybe when they are healed go for a walk taking it slow and not far and each day going further. They say walking is the best exercise. Good luck xxx😊

Could you ask your doctor to refer to you a physio who will be able to design an exercise regime suited to your medical issues?

Hello balloo. I have oesteoporosis alongside copd, a rib fracture while coughing is horrible. I was told that if possible to cuddle a cushion as this somehow stops the ribs going, if you arn't near a cushion then hugging your chest while coughing may also help. Iv been using these suggestions for a few years and have had only 1 broken rib in 5 years, as oppose to 6 in 18 months. I hope this might help, worth a try though? Love burs.. Xxxx

Hi balloo, I have osteoporosis in both knees, copd, diabetes, and I am obese, walking is out of the question as the weight bearing affects my knees so much that it then lays me up for long periods, however I have found swimming is the best thing, I still feel pain afterwards but am now massive more mobile and four stones lighter, I know it won't be possible with your ribs at the moment but once they heal sufficiently in sure you will find it ok, I go at my own pace which was very slow at first but have built up to between 45 and 60 mins a session now, good luck, hope this helps.

Are you taking Allendronic acid and TheiCal-D3 chewable tablets which have been prescribed for my steroid induced Osteoporosis?
