Chest pain radiating through back since 2 years.

I am having a chest pain since 2 years which radiates through center of the back. The pain gets reduced while exercising.I am a asthmatic patient, I have been tested with chest X-ray, CT, and ECHO it all shows normal. Then why i am having a chest and back pain too long as all the reports are normal.

Sounds like acid reflux. Typically it can produce back pain, usually burning sensation in the middle of the back. Usually worse after a meal.

Speak to,your GP to start with. A good treatment is Ranitidine twice daily and Gaviscon after all meals and before bed.

It takes a good month for the meds to start helping.

Thanks for the reply. But my pain is from 2 years, is this acid reflex can be cause of pain from 2 years??

If it hasnt been treated then yes. Its not like a cold that will go away, if left it will continue and gradually get worse.

I had that and it is the most terrifying experience as I thought it was my heart. I was blue lighted twice to A and E and after months and every test in the book it was diagnosed as silent reflux. Identical symptoms to a heart attack.

A nurse once gave me this tip. If you have chest pain drink a glass of water. If the pain goes away it is not heart related. Not much help as such but at least you are comforted by knowing what it isn’t.

An endoscopy will tell you exactly, that’s if you can get one with all the cuts in place and you definitely need some meds to help.
