Yet another infection
Stay strong, you can beat this.
Hi, I totally understand. I keep getting one infection after another too
And my kids don’t even know I have an illness as I can’t bring myself to tell them.
But although I am new here II am beginning to realise I am not alone in my fight.
And you are not alone either.
We are here and we understand,
So if all you can do right now is to “ let it out”, then do that.
It will help, and you will find strength somewhere
Because we can’t let this disease beat us. We can’t do that,
Sending good wishes and don’t give up.
It can be really hard to share our health concerns with family. It’s ‘funny’ because I can talk about things here but I can’t bring myself to share with my mum anymore. Yesterday I had an appointment with the doctor that I didn’t tell her about and I’ve cancelled 2 chest X-ray appointments because I didn’t have the courage to by myself but neither could I tell my mum about the appointments. Thank goodness for this community, I’m so thankful to have found it, I sometimes think I couldn’t cope if it wasn’t for the friendship and support (and laughs) here. I hope you can feel less alone here too.
Hi, have you approached your GP about feeling low? There are various medications they can prescribe. I have been taking one for a long time and feel it makes such a difference in my mood and self confidence. Hoping you feel better soon. xx
Oh hun I really do feel for you. Some days it's such a struggle ... my grown kids know I have bronchiectasis but just don't "get it". They expect us to bounce back quickly like it's just a cold and get impatient with the fact we are breathless for weeks at a time sometimes. Yes I'm so glad to have found this group too ... I'm in Australia but there's no support in Australia .... the best ideas come from those who have "lived" it. I agree with Judith41 ... speak to your doctor about your mood to see if he can help you through this rough spot. We're all here for you.
I know how you feel I seem to keep getting upper resp infections and my throat aches from ear to ear and is irritated it all started with the inhalers we have to take ?I have severe ACOS which is disabling without every few weeks getting this I feel so so down and am fast becoming a recluse I also gave up smoking a year ago and have put on 2 and a half stone instead off feeling better im worse even the great Trimbo hasn't helped this illness is so underated I hope you feel better soon we need to all stay strong xxxxx
Hi Dion, not surprised you feel so down, having one infection after another completely drains your system and the anitbiotics rob your immunity. Try to put back the vitamins and minerals that your body has lost. Strange how friends/family drop out of the picture once we are poorly, that all adds to the loneliness this illness brings, and please do visit your doctor, he could help you. If you can get out and about then do so, even if its just a visit to the shops, not only the fresh air helps but talking to different people lightens your mood. I too put a couple of stone on when I stopped smoking and that got me interested in food, I now love cooking and make everything from scratch which has turned into one of my favourite hobbies. Try to stay strong, there are alot of good people on here who care about others, that will listen and try to help. Keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. Irene x
