Hi folks, Not posted for a while but I thought I might ask if any of you with Very Severe COPD has had a CT Guided Biopsy. During a routine scan they picked up on some nodules in the top right Lung Lobe, sent me for a follow up PET scan and they all showed intense take up. At a follow up appointment my specialist said that it was possible Lung Cancer but due to severity of the COPD/Emphysema (FEV21%), it was far too risky to do a biopsy. Afterwards I was sent for Full Pulmonary Function test and the report has come back and recommended that I should be ok for a biopsy. Bit of contradictory information and I am left wondering which one is right. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Anyone with Very Severe COPD had a CT Guided Biopsy?
Like you my husband has severe emphysema and very low FEV. I can't advise you about the CT guided biopsy as I've no experience of this but if you have good consultants that you trust they will talk you through what it entails, the safety issues and pros and cons . Also 2greys has had treatment for lung cancer recently . Perhaps you could message him to ask if he's had some experience of this.
Good luck and hope it's a postive outcome

Hi welcome back, sorry to hear of your problems. I have sever emphysema and have had static CT scans but have never been told I need a guided biopsy. so cannot advise on that.
I have only meds and am inspected 3/4 times a year by specialist, rarely anything new and cannot be cured.
You need to follow this up, lungs are precious and it's not until you haven't got much to work with that you appreciate an early diagnosis, Go for the early guided biopsy and get it sorted.
