That is sad and must have been a difficult decision to make. I hope you will get the best of care and I do wish you well.

Please let us know how things go as we are here for you. COPD need not be the winner......for now.

Hugs for you. Xxx 😘

I'm sorry you had to make a decision for yourself like this. I know it is very hard for you. I am a caregiver for nursing homes, hospice, people in their homes and hospital. I talk with people who have made decisions such as yours. My thoughts are really with you...I do mean that. I hope there is someone there to comfort you. You will find peace within yourself...I go to the Abbey it's a Monestary in Idiana. Monks spend their life in prayer and finding peace with God. I talk with them...and sometimes get to go on retreat for a few days. There is a prayer box in one of the rooms. People from all over the world come here and put a prayer in the box. The Monks do read them....my prayer is for you. I will post a picture of the Monestary as soon as I can. I want you to see it. Beautiful there. So peaceful, trees and Creek streaming...you can hear the huge bell ringing when there is a mass taking place. Well...I will go for now. If I were there with you...I would hold your hand. So much you are dealing with... know that you are being thought of....and prayed for.

I was diagnosed when I was fifty with COPD.... without spirometry tests given. I just took this Doctors word and was given Symbicort and Proair for rescue. I went to doctor because I had a really hard time getting over bronchitis.

Years after I decided to see a Pulmonologist. He then took CT scan...and an hour long spirometry tests...Wich was difficult as everyone on here knows. He diagnosed me with Asthma. I'm not certain the yet I think my Fev1 was 79 and the other number read eighty. That was two years ago. I'm going in six months to get a complete work up again. Because of my insurance ...it won't pay for my tests for another six months. I take the same medication as I did with the first doctor though... Symbicort and Proair. I remain confused with diagnosis. I do feel that my Asthma is not controlled like it used to be.

I hope they will give you all the physical help you need and pray that your mood will be lifted. You are not alone, there are good folk here who are surrounding you in spirit. May a kind word or a happy memory bring you some peace today.

What a brave decision to make. Which region of the States are you in?

Hi sjf, sorry you are feeling so sad , what a major decision for you to make but maybe if you are finding things too hard to handle and feeling so weak this could be a good move for you, having help and companionship could be just what you need to get you back to some kind of normality, giving you time to concentrate on yourself. Please let us know how you are getting on and how you settle in, hopefully there will be lots of crafts and games along with good people like yourself. Take care. Irene x
