Another flare up

Today is not a good day, I'm having another flare up of my COPD. What is good about it is the support given to me from my friend who helps me and all the great tips and suggestions on this forum, helps me do all I need to follow a plan of action. I got a phone call from my gp, who called the pharmacy I'm getting new medication. What I want to ask, how would I keep a diary especially on days like this, any suggestions and tips would really be helpful.

Hi Law

You will find all that to download from the BLF website

Well you can take your peakflow and your O2 saturation if you have the tools..

You write down your symptoms

The inhalers you take how many puffs

If you are on oral steroids how many grams and days

If you are on antibiotics, which ones and how many days

So it helps you to see how many flare-ups you get and what works for you..

Then when you go to see the nurse, the GP or the respiratory specialist you are well documented.

Then the doctor in question should give you an action plan, what to do when it happens again, usually rescue medicine such as antibiotics and steroids you keep at home for when you have a chest infection etc

Take care x
