Hi
Have you been assessed for the need to have supplementary oxygen.
You will need a prescription from your pulmonary nurse or oxygen team. With your oxygen requirements in terms of LPM.
If you meet all the requirements you can be supplied with a portable concentrater if suitable. The two most common are the Imogen G2 and G3. Liquid oxygen can be as good as concentrator interms of flexibility. All of which can be discussed and arranged at the time of your assessment, by the Person who makes out your Home Oxygen Order Form HOOF.
Hi Stone, do you know if the oxygen provider has an obligation to provide a decent POC (I.e. lightweight). I was told by Respiratory Nurse recently not to expect a lightweight POC from Dolby, as they only have a few, which are in high demand and therefore there is a waiting list for them! Apparently what I will get is an old fashioned type which doesn't weigh much less than the oxygen cylinders, which is definitely counter-productive as I can't handle the cylinders.
Thank you for any help you can offer on this subject.
Hi
Not sure about obligation regarding specific equipment.
The Imogen G2 goes to 6 lpm weighs 3.2 kg comes with trolley, is the most common.
The Imogen G3 goes to 5 lpm weighs 2.2 kg is a more recent addition.
Give Dolby a ring, explain you concerns regarding weight, a waiting list could be for ever, unless somebody finds it to be unsuitable.
Talk to your Respiratory Specialist.... the will send a referral to DHN district health nurse. If you get provided it is their responsibility to monitor you.....
