Hello my name Courtney I'm 32 yrs old and I been diagnosed restricted lung disease? What do guys know about it

Restrictive lung disease includes.

Restrictive lung disease most often results from a condition causing stiffness in the lungs themselves. In other cases, stiffness of the chest wall, weak muscles, or damaged nerves may cause the restriction in lung expansion.

Some conditions causing restrictive lung disease are:

Interstitial lung disease, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease

Obesity, including obesity hypoventilation syndrome

Scoliosis

I have IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) which may be similar to your diagnosis. One of the best things you can do for yourself is google and read as much as you can, this will help you understand what's similar to yourself, and help with understanding and asking direct questions. If you have IPF you'll most likely have a chronic cough, and possible shortness of breath. But be sure and give your doctor any and all difficulties so they can help you. I also take a drug OFEV that is suppose to slow the progress of this disease. All the best Rhonda

I have also been diagnosed recently with restrictive lung disease - pulmonary fibrosis.

Stone UK gives a good overview of the main causes which includes both external and internal causes.

In my case the doctors think there might be a rheumatic (internal) cause and investigations are planned for the end of the month. Restriction of lung and diaphragm movement may also in part be attributed to my scoliosis (external).

We are all individuals therefore it's important that you try to read good sources of information and write down any questions you might have pertaining to your particular circumstances.
