Salty taste

Just out the hospital after a particularly bad infection..AGAIN..

The question I forgot to ask was...why do I constantly have a strong salty taste in my mouth..even if I were to have just eaten something sweet...I hope one of you informed people can put some light on this...Thank you so much for reading my post 😷

Underlying causes can include a digestive disorder, a sinus infection or it could simply be dehydration. It's probably best to discuss it with your GP to get an accurate diagnosis, rule out anything more serious and get appropriate treatment.

Hi Mawc, the taste can be associated with the particular bacteria which has given you the infection, a paricular antibiotic that you have been treated with or with saline if some of your treatment has involved nebulised drugs which can often be diluted with it. When I get a salty taste after an exacerbation ( I have bronchiectasis) it is usually a sign for me that I am getting better. I hope that helps.

Best discuss this with your GP. I had this about 10 years ago due to a sinus infection. However there are numerous other causes from digestive problems to a metabolic imbalance.

My asthma nurse said it was caused by my serentide inhaler and to always rinse my mouth out after taking it!!!

Don't know if this is any help , a lady I know takes blood pressure tablets and says she has that sensation so maybe it is certain drugs, or an anomilly to the individual person taking a drug. Best wishes in finding out the cause.
