hi there.know nothing about Adrenal Deficiecy or B12.but certainly my wife Cecila constantly had bouts of vit D deficiency, she suffered fron pulmonary fibrosis but also other disabilitys due to a stroke which pretty much curtailed our ability to get out of the house.Eventually the vit D deficiency was put down to plain old lack of sunshine and once i managed to get her outside a lot more bingo it disappeared.I know that sounds a bit simplistic but i imagine many bed/house bound patients are not getting enough natiral Vit D.Sending you a ray of sunshine.cheers

I have adrenal gland insufficiency due to the side effects of taking steroids. They take over the work of the adrenal glands while your on them, but in some cases, they don't start working properly when you have finished the course, so sadly the only treatment is to live off steroids permanently. They have tried weaning me off them and a different steroid but with no luck.

I also have adrenal insufficiency due to long term use of steroids. It was also discovered when I was trying to wean myself off them. I got down to 5mg but the effect on my joints and lungs wasn't good, so I'm now on 7.5mg daily and feel much better.

I'm on prednisolone every day. I have to double up the dose if I'm unwell and have to go to bed. If I'm involved in an accident or have an operation I have to have an injection. I've had to inform my local ambulance service so they are aware and I've had to join Medalert. What I need to ask next time I see my gp is that if I get a Rheumatoid arthritis flare Ipand get bad fatigue where I need to go back to bed for several hours each day, do I need to double my steroids?

I don't know your circumstances, but although my husband and children are very sympathetic they don't really understand how I feel, and if my mum asks me one more time when my cough is going to get better ........

I agree - a lot of symptoms are hidden. Doesn't mean we don't hurt.

I am interested to know how long is "long term use" of steroids? I have been on 10mg steroids for the last two months and would like to stop taking them due to the side effects.

From my personal point of view I would say try to slowly reduce the dose. I have been on various doses for at least 12 years, with very few steroid free times.
