It is important that you are monitored for any ongoing problems. I assume you had a CTPA scan? Possibly a V/Q scan? And an Echocardiogram? Take comfort from the fact that 98% of people who get PEs make a complete recovery. So the statistics or on your side. As for immediate acute pain/discomfort of the PEs, the sharp stabbing pain on the edges of your lungs, that should clear up after a few weeks. There may be coughing up some blood but that should stop after a few days. The clots should resolve after about three weeks. Bodies are very good at doing that, anti-coagulants should help to prevent any more clots but they do not, as some people think, 'dissolve' the clots, one's own body goes into clot-busting mode. I am probably not the best person to ask about it as in my case they did not fully resolve. If after all this time you are still experiencing problems --- breathlessness and chest pain ---- then you must go back to your doctor, and pester.
I should be very interested to know how things go for you.
