These are really good, they are bit smaller and a bit quieter than the standard hospital issue, I have had mine 4 years now and it is still working fine. Look out for the portable nebuliser, it normally come 1 or 2 weeks after this one. Its £29.99 battery operated (4x AA) very quiet, hardly any noise at all. It works like the vape machines, but you can take it everywhere on the train, out hiking, really handy when camping, I take mine everywhere with me.

hi you put ventolin nebulas in it but you have to be prescribed them by a doctor , its the same stuff that's in the blue inhaler but its in a liquid form in a little plastic tube , if you put the machine together the pipe goes on the machine then the other end of the pipe you have like a little bowl bit you put the liquid in there then the mask fits on the bowl

Would you advise getting one just in case or did you need it already?

morning Jennifer I was put on one by the consultant for a trial every day but the machine was only on loan if it helped I had to buy my own during the trial period these were advertised in lidil so I bought one , after a while after doing a bit of research I decided not to use it ever day only when I really was struggling , there are a lot of doctors who don't like people having them at home you are supposed to use them a maximum of 4 times aday now if you do that when your not so bad when you do get really bad say when you get a chest infection you have nothing else to fight it with if your body has already got use to it , I was rough all over Christmas but Christmas morning was the worst I walked a few steps from living room to kitchen and was hanging on edge of work top doing a goldfish impression dawn was ready to ring an ambulance I was trying to argue that I wasn't going to hospital Christmas day (well that's the censored version of what I said ) but by having the nebuliser by the afternoon I wasn't good but wasn't struggling as much , it is good to have one just in case as long as you don't over use it but you do have to have the gp prescribe the meds to put in it and a lot wont do it mine didn't really have much choice as it was they consultant who told her to put me on them and to do a repeat for it ,

I was told to buy one back in 1992 ,after my first asthma attack ,, But at PR the other week some one was told they need need one ,,, I bought mine because I was sooo scared ,it was just comforting to know I had it if I needed it ,,,,I've just replaced it as it was getting noisy ,I've also bought one for daughter who also has asthma ( but is in denial ) so I got her one just Incase ,,,,so maybe a good buy from lidl for peace of mind ,

hi yes I have it for copd (I have emphysema ) consultant wanted me to use one he suggested using it three times a day to start with every day to see how I got on , I did for a couple of months but didn't want to get to use to it as was told maximum I could use it was 4 times a day , so I stopped using it every day and now use it just when my breathing is really bad , mostly just when I have a chest infection then I use it 4 times a day , my gp prescribe the meds for it ,

its worth having a try with another doctor , explain how you wouldn't use it all the time just when you get really bad ,

Hi I would advise checking that your GP will give you the stuff you put in them. As you can only get it on prescription. Before you buy one.

Yes, Nottobad, and there lies a big problem I'me afraid ! - my Doctor is against " "Home Nebulisers" , and won't supply the meds to go with one, but things came to a head the other week, following my TWENTY THIRD ADMISSION to Hospital for serious Exacerbations of my COPD etc, IN FIVE YEARS, a local Matron came to see me and on learning that the first thing the hospital give me are a lot of nebulisers to get the breathing to some state of normality, - she said she would " Authorise me to purchase one as soon as possible " and would start me off with some meds with her Prescription , ! - JUST HOW A MATRON OUTRANKS A DOCTOR HAS ME BAFFLED !! , - however I bought a Nebuliser ( £95.00) - ouch ! , so this is certainly helping with the breathing =the FIRST LINE OF DEFENCE BEFORE GETTING THAT " GREEN TAXI " ! -( Ambulance ) ! ...BUT - to whom do I get further supplies of the meds in the future - ? - , the MATRON , THE HOSPITAL OR , NO DOUBT MY RATHER IRATE OCTOR ? !!! - THE BATTLE LINES ARE DRAWN !! - GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PURCHASE - AND NEBS !!! ...

Hi victorio I bought one for the same reason. I was fed up at being admitted to hospital just to be put on a nebuliser. I was lucky that my GP would prescribe the salbutamol nebs and saline nebs. I am sure that if the matron has said you should have one then your GP should give you a prescription for the nebs. I hope this is the case for you. As all gps have different views about them. I remember after I bought mine my GP said I should have asked my consultant at the resp clinic to give me one. Hope you have a nice day.

After many stays in hospital the doctors and nurses ask why I did not have my own nebuliser at home. I finally got to loan one from my GP with the nebules, then he came back and took it away after 2 days took it away saying they needed it for someone else.

Luckily a relative working in a hospital managed to get one for me. I got to the stage where I needed to take it 4 times a day. I then bought the Lidl nebuliser and used it until I was put on Omalizumab (Xolair) injections and the first thing I was told to do was to stop the nebs and I only use it now if I have a bad chest infection and I am put on antibiotics and prednisolone.
