Purple Blotches

Does anyone else have purple skin blotches appear on their arms. I am assuming it is due to the medication inhalers and such we take for COPD I just need a bump on my arm or scratch myself on shrubs in the garden and they show up very quickly and look very ugly.

It's caused by steroids like seretide which is why i stopped taking it.

Unfortunately I can't stop Using my inhalers but it's probably that that causes it think it's called Purpura must mention it at my next check up think it's associated with blood clotting, I was interesting in what other people had to say about it before I go for my check in the next few weeks. 😚

I changed from seretide to spiriva which is non steroid, although now i don't take anything.

I have lots at the moment. Just come off steroids.

I get these bruises and tears all up my arms - they can be repaired by pushing the flap of skin back over on itself and putting a bit of something like Savlon on. I just assumed it is part of ageing, but don't bother me at all. I remember my Gran in her 80's having them on her arms, not as bad as me but then I'm always messing amongst the stuff in the garden...... plus she was not on medication for copd - I'd forgotten about that:-D

Thankyou for your reply confirms what I thought they do disappear quickly enough but look abit ugly in summer when we want to wear short sleeves guess I should try not to be so clumsy 😬

in reply to Ef0lumps4

...it only takes the slightest scrape or knock so it isn't a case of being careful I don't think. I can't bear sleeves so it's t shirts for me nearly all the time. Wear your badges with pride:-D

Hi I must be one of the lucky ones. Steroids don't effect me like that. Take care xx
