Hi guys, Maybe you heard about this sad story about the poor gorilla. Its all over the Internet. Justice for Haramble is a Facebook petition. The parents weren't watching the boy well, so the poor gorilla gets shot. It's really sad. Rubyxx 😊

Hallo Ruby. It doesn't seem fair to the poor gorilla. It's the parents' duty to keep an eye on their children and not wander all over the place. There seems to be no justice for our poor animal friends.

Hi ruby, bloody disgusting, the gorilla is a genuine animal enclosed for our pleasure who didn't deserve to be shot, same as the lions that were shot after a man jumped into their enclosure...,,, this world has gone to pot, and is only going to get worse. Xx Sonia xx

And there was a report that the parents were being charged with neglect. The Mcanns were never charged with neglect. They didn't have to kill the animal they could of used a tranqualiser dart. X

It's terrible for sure. He wasn't going to hurt the kid. Poor Haramble! Seems animals have no rights when it comes to some people. Their rights are totally dependent on the flighty whims of people. 😊.xx

I rate an innocent child's life above that of an innocent gorilla (my favourite animal btw.)

Don't know Hannah. If you watch the videos, they're saying he wasn't going to hurt him. I haven't watched them all. I know the parents are being sued. Don't know all the details. I agree with you. I'm just inclined to think kids shouldn't be able to get in there to begin with. Then this tragedy wouldn't have happened. Xx

A little lad fell into a gorilla enclosure in the UK many years ago. The gorilla helped the little boy up. Then comforted the child and protected him as if he was a baby gorilla.

The adult gorilla surrendered the toddler to the keeper and then an American in the crowd shot the father. No not really.... sorry. It all ended with lots of press interviews.

Things wont change for the Animals until WE give them a voice OUR voice,it is long past time that all animals have rights that WE can help them attain.🐾🐺🐶🐕

Wish you were right, RedTed. Someone needs to speak up. People get pets and get tired of them. They either throw them outside, or drop them at a shelter. Then they go get a new pet. Rubyxx 😊

It's terrible,Ruby. The gorillas are magnificent animals, highly intelligent and seem to have great dignity. They don't ask to be confined or to be peered at by humans - and especially not to be shot.

Hey a bit of reality check here folks. Of course I am very sorry that this beautiful animal had to be shot, but there was really no choice unless you put his life over that of a human child.

If a child that young can get into the enclosure then the zoo is at fault. They know that kids will be kids and should have made it much more difficult to get in. Were they putting profit before safety? Surely not!

Also I think you are being very unfair to the parents. You show me a parent who says they have never taken their eyes off a child for even for a few seconds and I will show you a liar. If the family had been white, slim and middle class would there be all this fuss? No there wouldn't. x

Just came on the news- parents are being sued. I know what you're saying Bev. Of course the kid is going to come first. It's still a darn shame. Also came on news, my town is removing 100 dogs from someone's house!! They're in good condition, many of them pregnant. Amazing! How could you feed that many dogs. Someone in n.y. had 80 cats in their house, in cat carriers. Talk about hoarding! I'll stick with 10. Rubyxx 😊

Bev's right, who amongst us has never taken our eyes off our children? Not me, that's for sure. Just so happens in this case it had devastating results.

The witness mentioned in Ruby's link says of the mum: "Her attention was drawn away for seconds, maybe a minute, and then he was up and in before you knew it.”

Too many holier-than-thou types on social media are heaping vitriol on the poor woman. What's the point in suing the parents, how's that going to help? The lynch mob wins again.

Its an absolute tragedy that he was shot because of parents not watching their child ...absolutely heartbreaking that such a beautiful animal is now dead

When I first read the story I was really angry with the parents, then I started thinking about it. I assume they admire the animals to be there in the first place and are riddled with guilt over putting their child in a place where he may not have survived and possibly feel really bad about the gorilla too. So I figure they don't need my anger too, and there's no way the boy is coming out of that unscathed, flashbacks, fear etc so they have a lot to deal with I actually hope the family can cope with the pressure and that the boy don't have too many mental scars from this. I'm guessing that if the camera pulled back he wasn't the only little one not under close supervision, he was just the unlucky one.

The furore over Harambe is driving me nuts. Everyone up in arms that this Gorilla was shot, but I bet most of the people up in arms eat meat. Where's all the sympathy for the thousands of animals killed for food each year? Or has society gotten to a place where people just love to have something whinge about and jump on the bandwagon?

Also, most of the criticism I've read is pointed at the mother, but the father was there too!

And lastly, while the world is up in arms about one gorilla, over a thousand people died in the Med this week. Where's the petitions for those people....the image of a young dead baby in a rescuers arms this week should have been enough to knock people to their senses and gain some perspective.
