Should you be Weighed before a Spirometer Test ?

Should you be Weighed before a Spirometer Test as my last Test they didn't Weigh me and I've lost over 21lb since my previous Test .. Would a Weight differents effect the Results ?

I have never been weighed before a test at doctors surgery but have been weighed as part of the full respiratory tests at the hospital. I am also weighed before seeing consultant. I also lost a lot of weight about three stone due to my emphysema and bronchiectasis . Some medications require you to be weighed as they are based on your weight. I would suggest that you see your doctor regarding your weight loss as there are many causes for this to happen lung conditions being only one of them.

I sometimes get weighed when I go for my annual review , it seems to depend on which nurse is there.If I lost quite a bit of weight I would make a point of telling them so they would make a note of it.

If you lose more than 10 lbs without dieting and you are concerned please tell your doctor so they can give you the once over.huff xxx

Think I am weighed at each annual review - not sure why but it's something that they do at my practice

This Test was to see if I had COPD or Asthma it was just the Basic Test no Reversal, just worked out I've lost about 4 Stone 9lb since the previous Test, I just found it odd that they said my Results was 20% better than the last one but my Chest was worser than ever.

The calculations are related to height and sex, so weight isn't necessary - but they do usually record it on the form IME. Maybe to speed things up s/he didn't bother?

They didn't bother at all with my annual review this year..

Did you intentionally lose weight? If not as someone else said, you do need to see your GP.

I put on 4 Stone last year from being ill all the time with Chest Infections I didn't have the energy to walk from one side of a Room to the other, altogether I went up to 24 Stone from 9 Stone 7lb from being ill and having Arthritis .. I been on a Diet and lost 6 Stone 7lb in less than 6 Months because I was fed up of the 1 Doctor saying my Chest was bad because of my Weight, I then seen a Specialist a Month after for my CT Scan Results they found Scars/Nodules on my 1 Lung and said it was Chronic Bronchitis but I had Breathing problems before I put on all the Weight, I had Spirometers done when I was Slim but the Nurse said there seems to be some Blockage but when I seen the Doctor she said I was fine, I've been up and down with my Weight for years.

I'm always weighed and it forms part of the information on ny printout of results. Height, weight, age, sex and BMI are all taken into account.

Looks like she guessed my Weight because it say's on the Print Out 119Kg but I was about 111.13Kg (17 Stone 7lb) on the day .. it's weird because the Nurse said my Results was better than before with a Lung Age 61 but my Test before was Lung Age 57
