Hi and welcome...if you live in the UK the British Lung Foundation have a helpline...open during office hours...03000030 555.

They can advise you, and their website is full of information too.

Take care

Hi & welcome to our forum!

When you were diagnosed, did your doctor not explain the condition to you?

Are you on any meds?

You could phone the BLF helpline for advice or make an appointment with your GP & go armed with all the relevant questions.

Keep well 🌺

Hi Mojo and welcome to our (usually) amazing forum! Any questions just ask, always someone around to help. Whilst you are right there is no cure but it is definately not a death sentence. Take care xx

No not necessarily, with a healthy life style you can maintain what you've got, and even improve it. Well done on the no smoking, it's not easy but it's the best thing you can do. There are many alternatives around now e cigs etc. that may help. xx

I have been diagnosed with cold for about 3years now, my advice to you is this my friend, if you smoke, quit straightaway, it is 3 years since I was diagnosed but I quit smoking 11 years ago even so it was down to smoking that caused it, I can assure you that if I was still smoking I would not be replying now as I would.nt be here.

Copd is a non curable disease but it is progressive but will progress at a faster pace if you smoke, another bit of advice I can give you is to lose weight if you are overweight this no doubt has helped me considerably with my breathlessness, and lastly but very importantly excersise as much as you can, by excersising I mean moderate excersise for an hour a day at about 3 miles per hour, I excersise at that speed for at least 6 days a week either by walking on a treadmill at home or in the fresh air but in my opinion this is something must, I know from experience that you will not feel like doing this all the time as I have mentioned but I can assure you it will bring good results, my spirometry tests increase not decrease and that is testament to my excersising and weight control regime, by the way, I also suffer from asthma

So I say this, I am 67 years young and I will not give in to these diseases and curl up in a corner no way, I am living proof that it can be done, and I am no fitness fanatic and never have been, therefore think positive be positive and you will obtain positive health results, good luck.
