Hi guys, this might upset some folk but why dos'nt everyone put up a photo or at least fill in some of their profile?. We are all in the same boat with a serious illness, but I for one, do hold back when talking to an empty profile or a pic of a flower or a pet.....??

One reason for the lack of photos is many people now use I-pads, and without access to a PC they are unable to upload images as a avatar or profile banner.

Even PC users have problems with resizing.

I have a iPad .....NO problem ,more photos more up to date and very easy!!so that seems completely untrue!

iPad replaces PC. iPad does everything......better.

Hi

The original post relates to avatar image, which can not be change using I-pad, neither can the banner on your profile page.

If there is a way to change your avatar using a I-pad please show instructions.

It does not relate to image used in your posting, as you say the I-pad rules supreme in that category.

Sorry,with a iPad ,I thought that to start again,not take old stuff with you from old PC. Complicating the iPad,when that is so simple to start and use it teaches what to do, avatar is old hat now. Sorry I interfered.

Hi Stone, I use ' the cloud', whatever this is. Usually get free storage with internet provider. This way I Can download any pictures or documents on to my tablet, wherever i happen to be. Love Margaret x

The Cloud is a online storage facility, which can be accessed from any device. You need to check that you haven't used your free allowance. Once you have downloaded and saved to your device you can delete from the Cloud to free up space.

I think some of it is for privacy reasons. It's never a good idea to say much about yourself otherwise those with ill intent might be able to trace you. x

I had my picture up for a while but took it down after the troll with many names suggested I could do with a makeover lol! she's right of course but unless I get a date with Ewan McGregor or Chris Pratt I'm not bovered it puts you off when you remember how facile some people can be!

But I agree, It's always nice to see a smiley face..... like Freds, because that makes me smile and squirrels and meercats with K49's huff x

Hello - I did post a picture when I first said hello - on my first post but it was uber large. The little thumb nail on the left I think I see slightly like a token for playing tiddlywinks and I think my pet just fills it nicely whilst making posts from me recognisable. I'm not ready to tell a lot of people I know/work with that I've recently been diagnosed with COPD so don't want to be that identifiable I suppose. Might 'come out' when I've got used to the idea.

That's exactly the reason why I'm not putting things on I've only told my two grown up daughters and my hubby, like you piggi I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that I have emphysema, I did put a pic of my lovely grand children on but removed it later, xx

Hi Romfty, i feel like you too, but some people are photo shy. Also some people can't master putting a photo on profile as all computers vary. My photo has just been changed as I pressed the wrong button on profile and it swiped out my very good old one.Wish I knew how to make this one more close up. Have a lovely picture on facebook but can't transfer it to here.Another problem is some of us don't want too much personal fact on an available public web page, but that does not apply to all of us of course. It is about personal choice.

To be honest Rompfty, it's not always easy to put a pic on this site! Sometimes it lets you, but a lot of the time...it doesn't! Also, not everyone is familiar with computers and doesn't know how to put a pic on?

I think you will miss a lot of interesting posts by holding back on those that don't have a pic'!

Guilty as charged! In my case it is lack of technical know how, I have tried in the past to add profile picture and other photo's but am just not technical

enough. Please remember when you get annoyed some of us are elderly and our illness keeps us down!

Hi I think it's up to the person. I don't know how to do it anyway.

What has happened to personal choice, I do not want to post a photo of myself.

I just want help and advise from like minded people,why does it matter what the individual looks like.

My daughter told her friend who was having her passport photograph taken not to smile the friend asked why my daughter said if the plane crashes you wont be smiling and they wont be able to recognise you so you see Piggi that's why you don't smile lol

Well Romfty, maybe you can help me. I have always been pretty computer literate, but absolutely HATE windows 8.1 with a passion. I have tried a few times to upload a photo, but keep getting this file does not exist or some such nonsense. I did manage it once, put up a pic of my dog, then thought I would put one up of both dogs, so deleted that and haven't been successful since. My photos are saved to one drive, and come up fine to preview but I really don't know what I am doing wrong. (working from laptop by the way, haven't tried it on my phone yet).

Hi Gran...................I hate windows 8 and don't use it.......... lol. An easier way, instead of uploading from your own pc, is to store some photos on photobucket or picasa or other host and link to them from there to your profile?.
